I would put the MS290 and the 455 Rancher in the same class saw. I've run both. Stock saws. I like the Rancher a little better. I don't know that it has any more power but it feels smoother in the cut. And runs smoother, too. It "feels" better too. Maybe that's what is meant by "balance". I've had 290's in the past. I currently have a 455.

I would too never ran a 455 but that 55 is so dam light and mag case to boot. Now if it would stop oiling after its off.

Figured out the secret handshake on the 012 oil hose. 3M glue setting up overnight.
Old hose had two kinks in it. One flat shut.

I might have to purchase one of those heads after this happened todaywas stumping some hedge before work. I think I had here a lil to lean. I get off at 5 be in the shop by 6 and pull it apart. It never ceased I thought I was out of gas. Sad part was it was the first time out with it and really putting the beans to it. oh live and learn.
