I would think an 024 would be a candidate for performance mods.
Small, light, nimble.
Closed port, pro grade.
Turds from factory, but I think they have promise. Just a few minor mods may make them more of a go to grab.

I agree. They're both old and worn but they're still my go to saws for hedge 10" and under. First, I want to do the 028 Super mod saw that we talked about.

I just got back from running into town to checkout the Norther Tool store. They did have a few timber jacks (peavey w/a jack leg) but not the pickeroons/hookeroons I was looking for. I will have to order some through N.T. online or Bailey's and have them shipped. Back savers they will be!

Have you used any of there house brand peavys or related items? I was in there looking at them a few days ago. No hookeroon but I wanted to check the quality of the peavy/timberjack. I think they'll both be back savers.

Not yet. I was looking at the timberjack myself and will end up w/one. I just don't know if it'll be theirs or one of a couple with a better known brand name/track record from Baileys... Either way, YES it should be a great back and chain saver. I'm pretty good about not grounding my chains but jacking the whole log in the air has to help even more, shy of having a 4x4 FEL tractor with a grapple...

Trust me..

You'd just hit the grapples and be fixing it anyway...

Lol..

Life is good. Just busy trying to look busy without really doing any work. Got a guy at work that says he wants to retire in your area, sorry I can't recommend him:)

LOL. Why anybody would want to retire here is perplexing. Don't give him my name, we will let fate determine if we cross paths.

Ah, the typical John Deere "green glass" body parts. I have a feeling that John Deere makes a chunk of change in the replacement body parts business.

Yep I bet they do too! I have serviced about a hundred JD Mowers in the past two years and I'll bet 90 of them didn't have hoods. of course around here nobody wants to throw down that much snack for a mower hood...

Yep, I've got 3 LX series without hoods and a 425 that needs a side panel.

Morning Wayne heavy frost here.
Same here Kenneth and I sent another pm on that saw !
Really excited about it and I would hate to do this but will a husqvarna 272 clutch cover fit on those so I have brake? And of course I'd paint it black.
