Will this work for bar oil?
It would likely work but not well. Some folks use used motor oil for bar/chain oil, I wouldn’t want to see their bars or breathe that crap in.

Hydraulic/transmission fluid is what MFA uses for all-season bar oil but they add tackifier to it so it clings to the bar better.

HY-Tran oil is rather thin & runny.

Next time you are up in the SW MO area grab a jug of Buckys Best all season from an MFA to try out. There is a depot on the southwest side of Neosho & one up to Jasper.

They do now have a thicker oil as well.

If you wanting bulk they sell it in 55 gallon drums or will fill you up a 275 gallon tote.

I have a 55 gallon barrel of Bucky’s I would sell you but delivery may be problematic.

We had another.15” yesterday evening/last night. It was drying out but rather slowly with the cool temps. Likely be Saturday before we get back in the fields unless tomorrow’s rain chances materialize then it will be next week.

Got piss elm in the yard between the house and shop. This is nothing like it. Bark is different and red layer under bark were said to be the characteristics of red elm. Not sure what other native elms might be in the area according to conservation website. Either way I might just cut them about 2" thick and throw them in the barn to dry that way.
We had some ulnas rubra in Michigan..
I have not found one here in SW Mo..
not sayin they aren’t here, I’ve just never came across one.
The red elms up north had a straighter grain than American elm.
