Will this work for bar oil?

It would likely work but not well. Hydraulic/transmission fluid is what MFA uses for all-season bar oil but they add tackifier to it so it clings to the bar better.

Next time you are up in the SW MO area grab a jug of Buckys Best all season from an MFA.

They do now have a thicker oil as well.
