Jack is a chocolate lab.
And a bit of a dunce. Not all labs are created equal, so everything that should come natural to a dog like George and Levi’s lab Duke, seems to just be not natural to Jack and his ADHD.

He’ll eventually get it… If not, I’ll punt him to someone who has lower expectations..
Is the new recruit still a pup ?

Those labs are hard headed & always seems to take a couple of years for them to “get it” but when they do it’s like a switch has been thrown.

The only labs I have been around that didn’t ever seem to get it had narrow melons & a little raised point of bone in the middle of their head. I call it a dunce cap. I believe that they are considered an American Lab, more for open range bird hunting.

I prefer the traditional English Lab, broad flat melon & big otter tail.

I’ve heard that it’s called a smart knot. Also heard that if you pound that smart knot flat they get smart in a hurry.

Stupid neighbors are a plague......try to stay off the news. 😉
They are gone a lot. It will happen one of those times and somehow the dog will have been hit by a car on the highway. I've put a little thought into it. Not to mention dogs harassing livestock are fair game per the law.

As it should be, imo.
My older brother blasted 3 neighbor dogs inside our chicken coop one morning...... problem solved......and the neighbors didn't raise a fuss... they knew the dogs were coming over and killing chickens and wouldn't do anything to stop em.

Part of that is folks like dogs, as do I, but nobody wants to be the one to deal with the ones that are a little sideways..
a dog can be a good pet, but a horrible farm dog. I had one. Junior was an impressive Boxer,,
Maybe 75 pounds of fur missle.. he’d kill anything ya needed killed.. and loved people.. never met a stranger..
But could not stay with us. He’d go to the neighbors and kill the cats.. so he found a new home in town with a fence and family.

Butternut squash makes awesome soup!

And don’t knock it till you try it.

Brenda and I have had numerous dogs and cats.

No time for ones that don’t learn.

Had one dog that was Bipolar, I took her to the vet for euthanasia.

Otherwise chasing cattle, biting people that didn’t do anything to deserve it…. I will gladly dispatch myself.

Morning all. Another chilly one right now, quick breakfast and then cow checking time before work. Standard lunch at folks yesterday, I always enjoy eating too many hot rolls. Driver had a wreck at work Friday when someone made a left turn in front of the truck. Nothing the driver could do when someone decides to turn directly in front of one of our trucks.
