Is the new recruit still a pup ?Jack is a chocolate lab.
And a bit of a dunce. Not all labs are created equal, so everything that should come natural to a dog like George and Levi’s lab Duke, seems to just be not natural to Jack and his ADHD.
He’ll eventually get it… If not, I’ll punt him to someone who has lower expectations..
I’ve heard that it’s called a smart knot. Also heard that if you pound that smart knot flat they get smart in a hurry. Is the new recruit still a pup ?
Those labs are hard headed & always seems to take a couple of years for them to “get it” but when they do it’s like a switch has been thrown.
The only labs I have been around that didn’t ever seem to get it had narrow melons & a little raised point of bone in the middle of their head. I call it a dunce cap. I believe that they are considered an American Lab, more for open range bird hunting.
I prefer the traditional English Lab, broad flat melon & big otter tail.
They are gone a lot. It will happen one of those times and somehow the dog will have been hit by a car on the highway. I've put a little thought into it. Not to mention dogs harassing livestock are fair game per the law.Stupid neighbors are a plague......try to stay off the news.![]()
As it should be, imo.Not to mention dogs harassing livestock are fair game per the law.
Part of that is folks like dogs, as do I, but nobody wants to be the one to deal with the ones that are a little sideways..As it should be, imo.
My older brother blasted 3 neighbor dogs inside our chicken coop one morning...... problem solved......and the neighbors didn't raise a fuss... they knew the dogs were coming over and killing chickens and wouldn't do anything to stop em.
