Is there any method of controlling ticks and chiggers?

Spraying or broadcasting granular chemicals?

Just thinking of a small area, ie The Stamp
Really the best thing is Permethrin. Just take your shoe/boots, sox, pants and shirts outside and spray them. Let them dry. If ticks or chiggers get on any of them it kills em. Repels all insects. Lasts thru a half a dozen washings. I even spray my hat. Since I started using it i haven't ever had a tick on me.

This. Or get a few guineas, seems like everyone around has them now. Had someone try to give me some one day on route. I would wonder as to their life expectancy next to a highway though.

Normally we go to the Stamp at least once a month and about March we put down a couple of big bags of tick granuals over the whole place. But this year the last time we were down was January and it was colder than a witche’s t-t. So we stayed inside mostly. When we went down late May the grass was 3 foot tall. Before I got out of the Van I sprayed myself down real heavy with fresh tick spray. But I only did from my belt line down to my boots. Didn’t do my shirt. (Mistake 1) Then I went to the other side of the Van and sprayed Goldie from head to toe and put her in the camper. Then I went around the place hooking everything up and unloading the Van. All of this in 3 foot tall grass. (Mistake 2) Then I unloaded the Bolens and started cutting down the hay. Once that was done (2 days) (Mistske 3) I spread the tick killer.

Phase one hedge deck with walnut in lays done.
Build second set of steps tomorrow..

Should the hand rails be out of walnut? Or hedge? We are at an impass..
I think you should do the railing the opposite of the deck. Would be a great accent to the deck. Take it with a grain of salt though

Pies baked this morning and ice cream made when I got out to my parents. Just got back home a little bit ago and trying to decide if I will mow now or later this week.

I should have christened it with some fish scales and blood to break it in. Looks to be about the right height for a cleaning table. Bet Lisa would have killed me for that though. Could probably come up with enough cherry if you wanted something different for your railing.

After homemade pie and homemade ice cream there we be no mowing at my house; there would not be much of anything other than reclining and snoring!!!
Started raining so mowing was a moot point anyway. 66° right now and trying to decide if work can do without me today. I'm sure I will go in since I called in last Monday for a dentist appointment. Got to figure what day I am calling in next.

A storm brewed up here yesterday evening, about .43” of rain, some 40-50mph winds & sporadic hail from pea to golf ball size.

Guessers are saying nice today & rain likely tonight thru tomorrow night.

Reports said Stockton area got 5 to 6 inches yesterday and there was video of the flooding in the city park. Doesn't look to have affected the lake though, mainly north side.

Get ready for the heat and humidity!!!

On a brighter side, my daughter made me dinner last night: white wine braised chicken with artichokes and orzo, whiskey glazed carrots, and rosemary and garlic focaccia with a zesty garlic and herb dipping oil. I added a salad and taramisu from Olive Garden.
