The only question remaining is while they are hooked up to the ECM is do I have them turn I up. It’s set at 475hp now, the torque specs on the transmission are rated for 550. I am liking the thought of mo powah. I am thinking 525, if I go to 550 & something chits the bed I will be whizzed off & also never hear the end of it.

I’d go to the 525. I wouldn’t be worried about setting it at 550 if it gets drive right. As in no employees. If it was just me driving the truck I’d set it to the most they could. Too much power is just enough!

Can’t say enough of the versatility of an old Alumacraft boat! It took five trips,

but got these treated 2x10” 16 and 14 footers a mile and a half down the lake from the boat landing.

Lurch will appreciate this..
Need me some of that here lately. Seems paper quality has been extra crappy.

Never knew a "good" pressman who wasn't chemicaly dependent or born again.
Got to have a certain "flaw' to excel in this business.
Lol you have described my shop perfectly.

I’m sure glad tomorrow starts a new week, this one has been kind of a costly drag. The ECM crapped out on the truck on the way to the ethanol plant, I figure by the the time it’s all said & done it will be in the $6k range: service call, towing, ECM & truck wire harness, programming. At least the parts were available.
A local shop replaced the harness & ECM but they aren’t a Cat shop so I have to take it to Peterbilt for all the programming, codes & parameters to be set.

I went over to get the old International to put under the grain trailer & it had a sliced tire, so 2 tires & $900 later it’s ready to roll.

Along with Dad falling off the 2166, the water pump went out on it last night. It and dad were up going again today though.

My brother hit a stump with the draper head on his combine, I’m hopeful it’s just some parts but he thinks he bent it. It’s making the 1-1/4hour trip tomorrow to the dealer for analysis/repair on Monday.
Do you have the old ECM?
I just had one for my 98 Lexus rebuilt. Granted I wasn't in need of it and was able to wait 6 weeks but it saved me $2500. I guess their is a certain type of capacitor out there that will leak and that's what makes them stop working.

The old ECM had 3–4 pins corroded off, rebuild was an option but a remanned one thru Peterbilt was “only” $2400; which I figured would of been double that; Peterbilt had them in stock to boot. So hopefully it will be all reprogrammed & ready to roll tonight or in the morning.

Sawnami brought this to me at work today. Got to visit for a few minutes before I had to get back to work.

In the mean time “ol Tobe” is filling the void. It won’t set any power or land speed records but that little Cummins & 9speed just keep tickin right along. I have tried to get my brother to spend some money on it but it hasn’t happened. I would rather drive Tobe than his ‘99 International anyway.

I think it’s an ‘89 but I may be mistaken. I will look tomorrow. The original owner pulled a cattle pot with it then it was bought by a farmer & he pulled hoppers with it for a while. I think my brother gave like $5000 for it 15 years ago.

Any of you diesel guys
Know why my little 2420 farm pro tractor
Doesn't want to start, puffs a bunch of black smoke super rich them runs away with itself and dies.... pos

How’s the air filter? Seen a truck did something similar and it had sucked the filter into the intake pipe. Could be a bad injector hung open as a good possibility. Try cracking one line at a time and see if it changes anything. If it does that’s the bad injector.

The filter is clean, it has a injector
Pump that has its own oil
Supply. It gets diluted pretty
Quickly. The run away deal
Makes me nervous a bit
