Dad thought he had some pecans but this is what they all look like. What’s everyone’s thoughts? They r all empty that we’ve seen so far.

Good Morning Steve. How is the Granddaughter doing?
Seems to be ok. We only had her for a couple of days. She came home to a job at the Girl Scout Camp and will remain on sight their but generally come home on weekends to do laundry and such. This will run through the end of July and is between 2 camps. The one here (we had a charity cut there) and the one out by lake Wappapello. The second one the camp workers will stay on sight because it's so far out.
After that she comes back home to us.
We have discussed some goals with her that she wants to accomplish.
1. Get her GED. (Her dad let her drop out her senior year).
2. Get a job locally.
3. Get her drivers license.
We found out the last few months there has been no food in the house. She had a part time job and her dad was taking the majority of her money to buy video games. The money she had left she would walk to a gas station and get herself some food and she made a friend there that would invite her for supper every evening.
She told us she was looking forward to regular meals. I just wanted to sit down and cry.

Her dad gets a VA check every month and the only reason he talked the girls into staying with him was for the increase in VA money. When she turned 18 he lost some of his income, hence she was of no use to him anymore. The other daughter he has signed over his parental rights to another couple that live in the same town as us. So she is staying with them, who have a daughter the same age that she went to school with.

Sorry for unloading all this on everybody.
I just need to vent. The important thing is she is away from him. He's supposed to be moving back to our town sometime soon. He'd better not show up at my house. I doubt that he will though. He's afraid of me.

WOW!!!! Glad to hear things are turning around for the better...way better it appears. I understand about wanting to cry; I would understand wanting a pound of flesh too. I will stop right there with the rest of my thoughts. If there is anything we can do, let us know.

I remember the charity cut at the girl scout camp. I learned about sassafras at that one.

Wow that is absolutely terrible. No way anyone should go thru that. If there is any she needs or you need just let any of us know and we will do what we can to make it happen.

Steve, as a testimony to you and to her; The greatest things I have experienced and been blessed with in life, have been the direct result of the worst things I have experienced in life.
I would never wish those hard things on anyone, but I can honestly thank my Heavenly Father for what he has done in me to bring me where I am.
It is worth it!

And I believe in that too. My job is to help her put it in perspective so she can learn from it, understand it and grow into a better person than what her father is.

Thanks for the backing everybody. I know in my heart she's a girl of endless possibilities.
She's been nothing but hammered by him her whole life. Along with my daughter being hammered by him too. I don't have proof that he's ever hit my daughter and my daughter won't say. I'm not a physical guy but, yes Thomas, sometimes I'd like my pound of flesh, too. I just have to figure out how to get it legally.
But first, there is my granddaughter. It will be a long process, and yes Jason, I have the Lord helping me. Along with my friends here.
Thanks guys and gals.
