Just got back from a mini vacation in Eureka Springs. Arrived Sunday and came home today. Had a nice time. We stayed at the Crescent Hotel, determined to be "the most haunted hotel in N. America". Built in 1886 and served as several different things other than a hotel. Very interesting history. Even if you don't stay there it is worth a visit, take one of the "Ghost Tours" to get the history.

Looking forward to this weekend....Later
The wife and I didn't see any ghosts when we went there, but did see a few fairies and maybe an Elf..

After driving 69 hwy in Oklahoma, Goldie said please put springs on the splitter.
Well, one thing is leading to another. Decided I didn't want to use the original 4 inch channel steel axle. I felt that would be too much stress on the springs. They would have to be mounted on top of that 4 inch tall beam. Bought a new axle for it instead. Mama doesn't know about it yet.

I was trying to cut the old spindles off the axle and weld them into a piece of pipe. Wound up burning up my angle grinder trying to do so. Then checked on new spindles and hubs. Was cheaper just to get a new axle with 5 bolt hubs. Fortunately I have a pair of wheels to fit.

And a most excellent use of the jack stands, and redneck jack stands as well. :D I picked up a set today myself from Harbor Freight. Still have to finish the passenger of the Ford before the weekend.

Went to vote and came home to this.
The bugger started putting itself together. Actually, son welded everything up and in position before we got back. Don't know what I'd do without him. Tomorrow night we will put the tounge back on.

Sound advice. It's been 20+ years since I've done a set of drum brakes. It won't hurt my feelings if it's 20 more before the next set. Got the other side done tonight just as light was expiring. Only thing left to do now is relift the drivers side and put on the new drum that came in yesterday.......and a test drive.......without hills.

Sure hope my splitter gets itself back together by Friday.

You're just fixing yours to make me feel bad, aren't you? That's mean.:llorona:

Since mine ain't runnin', do you want me to take the muffler off and bring it for yours? My ears are still ringing a little from the five minutes I stood beside yours. :yikes:

When I was reading up the brakes for my wife's Honda Pilot, I found that it has disc brakes AND drum brakes on the back wheels. The discs are for normal braking and there is a small set of drums inside the hub for the emergency / parking brake. Luckily, I only had to inspect them because my wife doesn't ever park ......... she LANDS.
