What broke? You didn't mention it...Sorry about the gum, I turned some down yesterday.
Beam cracked under the 4 way.
It does that sometimes. But I just keep pouring more welding rod into it. 7018 this time.
Now, let's see if we can break it again.!

I hate that for you. FWIW, I have had to have mine repaired a few times also. It sucks because I get bent over at the welding shop.

If I could pick the wood I sell as "mixed" firewood it would be hackberry, maple, and ash. They split easy, dry quick, and burn well IMO. I would keep my oak and other hard woods separate for people who heat or cook.

I don't mind it at all.. It gets stouter every time I weld on it. And I can tweak on it.

I look at mine and consider it a work in progress. Seems like I always have to do something to it. But it keeps getting better, maybe goofier looking, but better. Next it will get leaf springs, a must, then I'll devise a hydraulic cooler for it. Goldie is insisting on a seat for it. Anybody got an old riding mower seat?

OK boys not familiar with the dolmars but I am replacing a piston on a 5100. The old one doesn't have Windows but the new aftermarket does. Will this cause any issues on the way she performs?

Evenin Kenneth..
Looks like I'm a go for the Seymour cut..

And ole scrap iron is welded up and ready after the Gum extravaganza in OK..
Lol.

Wanna do some more welding / carburetor work / hydraulic line repair? Ugh. I've got to fix that beast of mine and get it going again. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

I equate working on the fire system to holding a live hand grenade with the pin pulled. Only you are instructed not to throw it.
Theoretically you're fine, just don't let go of the handle.
Two things I don't trust in life, fire systems and hand grenades.

And women...

The Windows won't hurt anything..
But whatever killed the original, may kill your replacement.. Let us know how it tunes.

I have located and acquired a taller, stronger I beam for mine. That's gonna be a real pain to switch over. On the plus side, like you, I look at it as an opportunity to improve the unit. One big holdup for me is the budget considerations. For some reason, my children cling tightly to the belief that they need three meals EVERY DAY!! All that food cuts into my saw funding.

I have also acquired a 10" hydraulic cylinder for a future log lift. A 24" hydraulic cylinder is on my wish list for future improvements to replace the current 20" cylinder I use now.

All that stuff will have wait, however. Mason and I are planning on attacking the carburetor and hydraulic pump issues this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed!!

somebody took a chunk out of the intake boot when the shop, so called, worked on it before. A buddy of mine bought it from a local dolmar dealer supposedly it had been refurbished!!
