It is a bad assed machine, even if I didn't really need one that nice.

I think you did well. I'd buy one, be tough to pass up a Hustler though.

I've got a set of service memos from 1954 and up that I matched memo dates with serial number mentions and also have a serial number list of several thousand saws sold at a Homelite dealer that was in business for over 50 years starting in November of 1951.
Yes, it is an early one.

I put open bearings in it when I rebuilt the fat old *b-word.
