They came, they split, they conquered. We got 98% of it split. I have some large pine rounds I will get to later. Steve even noodled a few of those. The pics don't do the wood piles justice.

I can't thank Marc, Mason, Steve, Goldie, Matt and Levi enough. Also had my friend Paul, Kooper, Dave, and daughter's boyfriend Grey. Grey stayed to the end. I guess I can get a hard days work out of him every now and then for dating my daughter.

I really am speechless. You guys and gals are better than family, seriously. I contacted 3 of my brothers to come down and help, and a couple more friends, neither showed.

So my splitter broke down six times today. Repaired five times at site but ultimately failed / gave up the last time.

On the return trip I'm telling my 13 year old son how it really bites to prepare for a week and drag a piece of equipment a few hundred miles only to have it to fail in public. He says "It's all about perspective, Dad."

Such wise words from my own son! As I am thinking how to put a positive spin on things like possible improvements, lessons learned and all that, he continues his thought... "From the right perspective, you're a winner. Just imagine that there was a contest to see how many times a single piece of equipment could fail in one day while leaking oil, gas AND hydraulic fluid all over two states... If that's the contest, you win hands down."

I almost stopped the truck to beat him.

Then he reminded that HIS equipment (MS 211) functioned flawlessly at the site.

Then I did stop to beat him.

I am a little sore and tired from driving. Not so much from working 'cause I didn't do much of that. Too busy trying to make repairs.

To Steve ... thanks for helping with my splitter. You tried and would have fixed it under different circumstances.

To Matt ... thank you for the modification and suggestions on Mason's saw. He was excited.

To Levi ... thanks for letting Mason and me run your 025. We're both still smiling! That little saw absolutely RIPS!!!

To Thomas ... thanks for the invite, your hospitality, lunch and the fuel. Sorry about leaving the fuel/hydraulic/oil slick. Don't let the EPA know about that one.

Number of miles driven... 346

Number of splitters at site in Muskogee... 4

Number of splitters that consistently worked... 3

Number of times MY OWN SON busted my chops about my non-working splitter on the 3 1/2 hour drive home... Lost count.

Those are the funniest posts that I can remember. I am grateful you were able to make it and spend some quality time with your son...

We tried to be as productive as possible..
But Thomas gave us the pile of humblers..
Lol.
That was some brutal splitting stuff.
Much like we are used to, but don't tell Thomas..

Add sweet gum to the list of trees I won't take, such as sycamore. Brutal splitting for sure, that stuff don't like to let go.

We had a grand time today!

7 hours in the truck with me and he worked hard while we were there. He said again and again how much he enjoyed the day. Even with the broken splitter, long drive, tanks of gas and whatever else - it was time well spent.

By the way, Thomas - you make some fine coffee. It was much appreciated!

Obviously my pile was the worst. It broke my "custom fabricated" splitter.

Had a great time today with everybody.
Thank, Thomas, for having us down. Hmm, might make a nice spot for a smallish GTG?
On another note, it looks like I need a personal keeper.
I hereby dub Matt, Marc and Thomas as my personal keepers. You don't have a choice, either. :)
It seems I have a problem with either almost leaving things behind or actually leaving something behind.
I DID NOT leave a saw behind, this time. My son bought me a battery powered Snap On kit for Christmas. I left it on the back of Matt's truck. It is currently in his trusted care until I pick it up Monday.
Like I said, I need a keeper. :risas3:

It looks and sounds like you all had a grand time down in okieland. I had a little project I started knocking out today as well. Have to mill into perfect halves, 8-18' red oaks with 18" diameter small end logs for an order of benches. Half way there. Here's a few pics....prep work.
