This one was not that smooth, but cut pretty fast. Rakers too low for a medium power saw, but ok for heavy hitters.

World of variations and permutations there is.

Basically you take short fat (rod), draw it thru a die to make long skinny (wire). Put a bunch of long skinny together to make short fat. All for strength and flexibility.

Rope wire is made from AISI 1074 steel. In contrast, spring (music) wire is AISI 1090. Plain dog dirt soft steel is 1020.
