I was in Lowe's yesterday wasting time. I was looking at the Husqy chainsaws. They had a 545 pro model, 460, 450, etc. A guy on the aisle says (unsolicited I might add), "Excuse me sir, are you looking to buy a chainsaw. I bought 4 of those Husqvarnas in the past 3 years and they are horrible; worst saws I have ever owned. This saw over here is the best saw I have ever owned. It cuts circles around those Husqy's your looking at." He was pointing to a Craftsman. I looked at him like he was an idiot and said, "I am not looking to buy but I will take your words under advisement if I do." He rambled on; I walked off so I didn't have to hear him talk anymore.
Yep, huskies are garbage.....lol

Morning all. Another round of rain last night. Sat out Tuesday night and had to listen to the neighbor torture a saw that sounded duller than a school administrator. Remember when principals and superintendents still taught rather than collected 6 digit salaries sitting behind desks? Dad and I brought back a few tasty snacks yesterday. Made for a nice supper last night.

We saw a smattering of storm damage on our trip form Iowa - Georgia.

Mother doesn’t like bridges, overpasses or scenic overlooks, it was a stressful trip for her at times. Saint Louis was a hard no from her as well.

I told her we could take the ferry boat across down at East Prarie/Dorens but that was a hard no, after crossing those bridges east of Sikeston she was rethinking the ferry option…

Dad told her if she didn’t want to drive on bridges or use the ferry she could swim across the big rivers. Lol

Iowa - Cadiz, KY was a decent trip, traffic wasn’t stupid.

Cadiz- Athens was redonkerous, lost almost 2 hours due to traffic.

Mother got an education on traffic & got to see some road rage, not from me.

I told her I had a 9mm in the console, she said I shouldn’t have told her, she might be inclined to use it on the stupid people. Lol

I guess heading to Athens from the NW is no different than approaching from NE. Had kids at UGA and every trip went fine til we hit I85 at Greenville / Spartanburg, always doing at least 80 mph just to keep from getting run over, and stops for an hour or more for no apparent reason. Used to have the same on I77 at Charlotte/Lake Norman but we found a way around that.
Kudos to your dad!

Good morning folks.
I put out some hummingbird feeders last evening, and what is showing up seems to be on steroids. Oriels by the feeders and that robins nest (4 unhatched eggs yet) on the other side of the house.
If nothing else they are usually pretty good bug and ant catchers, even if they do leave a few extra fertilizer deposits. Now, we need to train them for only depositing in the garden or by the flowers, :D

Dad is at home, mother refuses to ride this far with him, he didn’t think he could leave home with haying season starting but he really just wants to be around to supervise the goings on. It’s a white knuckle experience riding with him around home.

Besides the dogs would go into shock if they weren’t getting a treat every couple hours.

I left my 2 dogs with him, both of my brothers drop their dogs off every morning as well.

He would be lost without the dogs around there.

There is never a “good morning, how are you ?” It’s always “Did you bring the dogs?” Then the treat bag comes out.

I hauled mother down to meet her her great grandson.

My daughter works at UGA.

Biting insects, snakes & humidity 8-9 months out of the year, no thanks.

I will maintain my Iowa residency.

Gotta be a pretty good fellow if he gets along that well with dogs.
Father-in-law and his brother are in mid-late 80's and the same way this time of year, hard to keep them out of the hayfields even though they have multiple offers from younger relatives to work the hay.
And although VA is only a little better than GA in the summer, bugs and snakes included, moving the kids into school in August pretty much sucked. I can swing a splitting axe for most of the day in the winter wearing jeans or even shorts and sweatshirt, but I'm going to be soaked in 20 minutes in the Summer just standing around.

Does camping out in Stockton for a couple of days last week count as being a mid-wester? You know the place by the lake SE of KC , but not quite to Springfield?

Why didn't you ask for a boat ride? Which campground? Last Saturday the good-for-a-year blimp was floating around the area as well. Sorry for the crappy phone pictures. It landed in Joplin that night and left the following morning.
