Ya what Steve saidBald cypress.
Had one where the new shop is now and have a dawn redwood in the front yard.
The tips on the leaves are rounded on the dawn redwood and they come to a point on the bald cypress.

Was a very popular wood for building in the 17 and 1800's. Bug and rot resistant. St Genevieve, I think, most houses were built from it. They were plentiful along the Mississippi River back then.Cypress mills great I hear.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation Bald Cypress can be planted most anywhere and do well. They only develope the "knees" when they are growing in a swamp like environment. Possibly to add more stability to the tree.We saw these trees all over the st Louis zoo and they have an appeal to me.
Fletcher is a ways down into OK.Beautiful, just plain beautiful. There is no finer name in the world than "grandpa"
I agree. But so far I've not been able to convince Grandma of that. LolBeautiful, just plain beautiful. There is no finer name in the world than "grandpa"
The knees develop to allow the roots to breath. The knees come above the waterlevel.According to the Missouri Department of Conservation Bald Cypress can be planted most anywhere and do well.
