My son called and said all 4 of his trucks were jelled up. Supposedly #1 and Rescue 911 still screwed up.
That sucks.

More likely water/ice or crap in the #1 plugging up the filters.

In my experience straight #1 at the pumps gets little use & always seems to be dirty & plugs up the fuel filters.

Most around here are 70/30 some have gone to 60/40 or even 50/50.

I believe there are a couple in St. Joseph & KC that have straight #2 pumps year round, along with winter blend pumps.

I bet that is what the Gulf Coast of America states are thinking as well, winter storm warnings/blizzard warnings from Texas to Florida on up to the Carolina’s on the Atlantic side.

New Orleans is calling for 4”-8” of snow, those folks won’t know what the heck is going on.
Sooo true

Veggie/bio crap starts clouding at 32. Straight #2 about 15. #1 will not gel. No paraffin.
Most pumps say #2 around here but it is anybodies guess. A lot like the may contain up to 10% ethanol. If it is cheaper than gas then it get cut in a few extra times. Casey's had a big problem with that years back and people started testing and finding ethanol levels over 30%.

I drained a bit from my tractor tank this morning and it was still cloudy. Just dumped some Howes Lifeline in it while on lunch. I'll fire it up tonight and put a little time on it when I get home.

This mostly will affect Jimbear:

The 50 year old double deck eye 229 thru downtown St. Joe will be torn out and replaced with at grade 4 lane.

Give em 4-6 years to do that I think.

There has been a few instances of concrete falling on the lower deck.

Scary chit. 😑

I knew that it was being discussed.

Any idea when it will be closed down ? I haven’t been that way for a while.

A while back I mentioned something about my dad, brothers, and I, building a suspension bridge.....once upon a time.

Finally got a sister to go out today and shoot a few pics for me.

We built it in the summer of '96 after a flood destroyed the other (much lower & smaller) bridge.
110' center span, 6' wide deck, concrete towers are about 25' tall.
1" galvanized cables.

We milled all the lumber (doug fir) from logs we salvaged out of the Columbia River.

I'm kinda out of the loop, but the last I knew most of the decking was still original, dad replaced the cross beames about 15 years ago with lumber he had pressure treated.

That’s is some impressive & very nice work.

You should contact the Missouri Conservation Department or check with them on projects for parks/rec areas. Maybe you can get some work thru them.

That is if you are needing something else to do after you get done milling, building houses, raising & butchering pigs.

It'd be tons of fun building stuff like that for pay.
Course they'd want stuff engineered....

Dad just studied some books on the golden gate bridge and more or less scaled it down.
Actually he checked out everything on suspension bridges the local library had available, but the golden gate was the main thing he followed.

That is very impressive, my mind doesn’t work that way.

I’d end up building something resembling a 3 legged rocking horse…

Lol.
Dad was a builder to the core....he was an architect and worked closely with a few structural engineers to the years, so he had a pretty good sense of what's going on with loads and such.

Up and going for another day. Starting out at 28°. Only supposed to peak above freezing from the guessers standpoint. After I got the tractor going again last night I fed an extra bale for the girls. Stupid things followed me around the field wanting the ones for today. They think they are starving to death, may have to give them a little grain this morning.

Good morning folks. Got the coffee going, so that will help the pretend it's warming up, as we're starting at -1f with a climb out of the cellar to +12f a bit later expected. At least it's in the right direction.
