Making a weekend trip to my Sister in laws place north of Topeka, Ks this weekend. She’s been doing kind of iffy health wise the last 4 months. I’d better check on her.
Safe travels if you have time give me a call if you have time on the way to or from Sherry and I can meet up.

The boys picked up five gilts Thursday....
supposed to be Hereford Hampshire cross, should have a good growth rate and depending on the feed, they outta have a decent amount of lard.
Planning to grow em out and possibly keep one or two for breeders if they perform well and have good temperaments.....the reminder we'll try to get in the freezer before it gets too hot this spring.

The north wind is impressive..

Hope it don’t do that all day. Or it’ll be a *s-wordty day of wood splitting.
Yesterday's south wind was something as well. Bouncing the truck all over the place. They have plastic/fiberglass tops in the cargo area and it was popping and flexing going down the road yesterday.

Nice looking pigs we got 24 pints of lard off of the ones we just did. Could have been more the ground we did could have been trimmed closer20250107_165509.jpg

That's a decent amount of white gold.
Gotta leave a fair amount in the ground meat.👍

The best we ever gotten was 7 gallons off one hog.....18 month old AGH.
The average for our agh hogs is probably around 3.5 gallons.

It's dropping, the temperature, 25° since 3 a.m. 8° since 7 and falling. Here we go again. Hope they realize they've corrected the high temps enough with their clients ate control. As if humans can control it lol
