Thought the clutch was destroyed in Catoy. Couple of weeks ago Goldie was coming home getting ready to pull off the highway at 70mph. Downshifted to 4th, missed and went into 2nd. She made it another mile before having to pull over in a safe spot. Engine was still running fine, just wouldn’t go any further. Loaded it onto the flatbed trailer and took it to work. Put it out back and ordered the parts I figured it would need. Dealership let me put it in a bay yesterday, after all the parts came in. Nephew helped on most of it. Started at 8:30am finished at 2:30pm. Got the transmission on the ground and looked up at the back side of the engine. No flywheel. It was still attached to the clutch in the bell housing. 6 flywheel bolts were sheared off. Probably saving the engine from hitting 10k rpm. Went to a hardware store to buy easy outs, hardened drill bits and such for getting the broken bolts out of the crankshaft. Got back to the shop to find out the bolts unscrewed with finger pressure. That sure saved a lot of time.
A week ago today was coming home from town and somebody hit me in my Van. It’s at the body shop getting fixed on his dime. $1700 worth of damage. Was down to one vehicle for last week. Decided I needed another truck. Found one at work. 2004 F150 4 door 4wd. Pick it up Wednesday.
