Good morning folks. 49f now to a bit more than 70f today. Claiming to be a bit more breezy as well.
Generally same colors. I think this unseasonable warm is messing with them a bit. Water temps should be falling faster now than they are. Nephew caught a little 6" walleye yesterday, we are assuming spawned rather than stocked. He is supposed to work a fish survey netting count on the lake in a couple of weeks with the conservation department. Kinda interesting getting the information from someone working these things rather from just reading about them. He had to go to a training seminar a couple weeks ago and one of the topics was the use of live scope on the crappie population. He asked the ones hosting it if they included fishing guides in their research and got blank stares. Multiple guides taking multiple limits of fish a day and none of the so called biologists thought that it should be tracked. Friend with us said that spoonbill populations in OK are showing signs of strain since guides are hammering them all year long now. Taking fish from deep cooler water and stressing and mishandling them just for pictures, then keeping fish for clients afterwards. They need to put a season on them like Missouri but wont for fear of losing money that tourists bring in.Still on the same colors? Or have they changed?
Don't they realize that removal of excessive fish will lessèn the opportunity to attract tourists if their unable to catch the fish they seek. Short sighted ?Generally same colors. Very short sighted. But how often do government people make decisions that make sense until it is too late.Don't they realize that removal of excessive fish will lessèn the opportunity to attract tourists if their unable to catch the fish they seek. Short sighted ?
The last hog Ely and I cut up was a true commercial hog .. so modern breeds crossed.Yep
We use gobs of lard, so we need at least some fatties.....but I do sometimes tire of digging through gallons of fat for a bit of protein and wish for a more conventional pig.
I'd really like to try some of the older English breeds like the Old Spots, or Red Wattle.... those are supposed to grow faster and get bigger, yet they still have a good amount of lard.
And then there's what a guys feeds em.... if you have access to corn, you can get a very respectable amount of lord on most of the plain old meat breeds, and they'll stihl grow plenty fast.
Live scope is something they are gonna have to deal with sooner or later..Generally same colors. I think this unseasonable warm is messing with them a bit. Several of the tournaments have started outlawing the use during them. National Professional Fishing League and B.A.S.S. have either restricted or banned their use during tournaments now. Several lakes in Mississippi have recently changed limits based on their use as well. Daily limits of crappie are 15 per individual and have now been changed to 25 per boat. Several guides in this area will take out clients and fish with them and then give their fish to them. This is legal for possession limits but then the guide will take out other clients the same day and do it again. Now the guide has broken the law but it will have to be witnessed by the agents or verified by social media postings. If enough people would report this it could lead to forfeiture of boats, trucks and all other equipment used and loss of privileges. We were talking yesterday that some of the guides couldn't fish if it wasn't for the livescope systems now.Live scope is something they are gonna have to deal with sooner or later..
I know some of the bass tours are talking about it at least. Not that they’ll do much about it.
They’d have to go back to lazy fishing.Several of the tournaments have started outlawing the use during them. How low are the hours?I'm looking for a tractor to do some landscaping and a bit more. My first that's not a lawn tractor.
There is a Mahindra 4540 4WD Tractor with low hours, that has caught my attention, partly due to the attachments. Several that would help my projects along.
Any known items to take a closer look at ?
