It’s a hole. It looks like somebody used too long of a screw on the handle, and the screw wore a hole in the tank

Look directly under the screw.

Might try a short screw with a rubber washer setup and just plug it with that.

I'm going to need to catch a lot of fish before I pay $200 buy a reel....wow!....do they actually catch more fish than the $25 reels?

I didn't give that for it either. Local place was running them on a clearance sale and I have a rod that I am trying to sell with it as a set to make a little money. Make you a good deal on a new reel and St. Croix Avid Walleye rod. Retail is only $420 for the pair. When we get a chance to meet up I'll let you try a carbon fiber rod.

If you don’t want to completely tare the saw down you could disassemble just far enough to access the hole and thoroughly clean, also remove the exterior paint about 3/8” back.
Apply this sealant:

This stuff is no joke!

I have used it since 1985. We used it for sealing wet ‘fuel’ locations on the B1B

I don’t know the seller but I would shoot him a lowball offer, if you think it’s something you want to try?

Yes, I can fix that. It would be best to tear it down the the case half but I can try to weld it as it without cooking the gasket.
