Morning everybody.
Come on down Steve, now that you’re retired! Being that you’re married like me anyway, you’ll have plenty of things to do around home and the Stamp.

Gotta warn you though, they have advisories out on the weather!

Congrats Steve on your first full day of not "needing" to track your time for someone else.
So how's retirement? Has even a small bit of the new era of your journey sunk in yet?
Well, it’s the weekend. The big difference to get used to is this. I figured up that I had to plan my life around the buildings that I oversaw maintenance on. 20 years. 7300 days. The building my office was in is about 300k square feet and sits on 23 acres. It’s always been a credit card call center and it has a lot of redundant systems designed to keep the building in power 24/7365. All of that critical stuff needs to be constantly monitored and serviced on schedule. The pain part of the job was that critical servicing could only be done between 1am and 5am and only on Saturdays or Sundays. I was just getting tired of that part.
But the sad part is that yesterday I planned on leaving at noon. At 10:30 my 2 engineers and my secretary got a message from my boss they needed to be on a zoom conference at 11:00.
A few minutes before it started I went to the cafeteria and sat down. The meeting wasn’t any of my business. It lasted about 5 minutes and I returned to my office. My employees told me that the building owner had sold the building to a local hospital and they weren’t going to renew the contract with the company I worked for. Effective January 31, my people were out of a job.
Not only did it hurt my people, it hurt me too.
But, the building no longer matters at least. I’m retired from there.

A late thought on the liver. If you are only after the health benefits then why not just grind it into the sausage? Low percentage wouldn't adversely affect the flavor or texture. All the benefits with none of the misery.

Perspective Steve. Sad for the hit to your people but your timing couldn't have been better. Congrats on retirement and no more weekends on call.

We do mix it into the sausage sometimes......works pretty okay, but does make it a bit dry/crumbly.

So far that's been the best solution we've come up with. 👍

Any of you guys eat liver?

We all absolutely hate it!!! but my wife has decided it's really good for one's health so we're trying to eat it..... but man, it's awful stuff!👎
My grandpa made us eat mountains of liver when I was a kid......I really thought I was going to die from it a few times....I've never been able to stomach the stuff.

Any tips on how to prepare it?
Liver: Fry up some bacon. Fry the liver in the bacon fat. Throw out the Liver. Eat the bacon. 👍

To be honest, that was the first thing that crossed my mind and the first thing my daughter said. The timing couldn’t have been better.

You can do that as long as it don’t throw off the balance..

But hey, I like braunschweiger...

So there’s that..

I can eat that stuff with a spoon..

My mother’s two sisters were sometimes offering a braunschweiger sandwich to me for lunch. Hard pass aunt Virginia and aunt Ilene. 🤢
