Youngest son is waiting on 2 fuel line connectors for his Bronco 2. His battery is dead, so I looked at it. Asked him if he had checked the water level in it. Looked at me like I had 2 heads. I said, those caps come off. He pulled the caps, no water showing. He went to get a cup full of water, told him to get at least a quart. Took every bit of a quart. It's back on a 2 amp charge now. We'll see tomorrow night if he needs a new one or not.
Only thing left after this is oil and coolant. Right now he doesn't have the twin turbo's mounted or plumbed in. He wants to test start the engine with open headers first. Mainly to check that everything is wired right and the engine will actually start and run. The engine is a 94 in an 87. He had to marry up the 94 underhood harness to the 87 body/dash harness. About 100 hrs work. And wire in the 94 computer. We should be able to crank it before next weekend. I'll get videos and post them of the test firing. Still has a lot of work to do, though to get it driving. He's got to get the driveshafts shortened/lengthened to fit the new drive train. He took the rear and front end from the 94 Ranger (doner vehicle) and put it under the Bronco. Another 80-100 hours. Went from 7.5 gears to 8.8s.
Electrically everything checks out, so it will either fire off or just go "click, click, click".
He's done this on his own. At one point he was getting stuck on the electrical changes he was going to have to do. I dropped a half dozen books in his lap one night and said "All the information you need is in those books, start studying". (Of course I would coach and explain things as he was going along). Between reading books, searching the internet and studying Ford manuals and taking online courses from Ford he has about 1000 hrs in research. Pretty proud of the little guy. He hopes to drive it to a GTG sometime to show you guys.
