Morning folks, 25 to 32 today. I have a few more wood piles to make up nearer to where it will get consumed so a partial enjoyable day in store. Always good to have outside chores, when the temps still nice enough that you might get down to a t-shirt once ya get going.

Hey Steve, were you just looking for heretics...or were you going to tell us something about pellet stoves?

Just wondering. 🤔
Wife wants one. She doesn’t want me cutting firewood anymore. Kids are of the same opinion.
I’m not totally against the idea of pellets. I just really don’t care to cut a hole in a new wall. Sure not cutting a hole in the roof.
Just know nothing about pellet stoves other than they have to have electricity to run control boards.
We found one at Lowe’s for 1300 that is from a company I’m familiar with that’s good. I just keep thinking about a hole in my wall.

^^^^yes, remember what he's said^^^^

I like my pellet stove pretty well.
They put out a nice dry heat, just like a real wood stove.
Mine's a little noisy, but it's a $650 Chinese special.
We burn around 1.5 tons per year down here.
Imo, they are a pretty viable option.... they give the feel & heat of a wood stove without the mess and work.

I just ran a 6" holesaw through the wall, stuffed the insulated vent pipe through & fired it up....took about 30 minutes to "install".... but, I don't have any inspectors / insurance guys looking over my shoulder, so I can redneck stuff.

We have a wood stove sitting here waiting for me to install it, but the pellet stove works so well I'm not very motivated to go through all the time and $ to get it hooked up.

Where I have to put it is in front of my living room windows. My problem is I’ve got a brick front to my house. I’d have to cut the bricks. I’ve got the tools to do it, that’s not a problem. Cutting drywall isn’t a problem. It’s easily fixed if we move and take the stove with us. Brick, to me, is a little more problematic putting back the way it was.

I don't know anything about working with brick.... As you say it's probably a bit more difficult to patch over nicely.

Good morning!
The guys at the rental place were skeptical about my Avalanche towing this until they looked up the specs on the internet. Seeing the 496 cubic inch emblem on the tailgate caused him to look it up. View attachment 394731
I guess the 8 lug hubcaps were overlooked by mr. rental place guy too?

I did not know they did those?, or is this custom?

When is thus threads’ GTG?
This thread has become a place for folks to help keep track of each other and what we are up to for projects, work, etc. Some GTG's get mentioned here as those of us hear of them or host them. Welcome to the thread. :icon_cafe:

39 degrees here. Guessers are saying this will be our high for the day and dropping as a cold front moves through today.
Son turned on the furnace yesterday. I came inside to get a break from the rain working on the Explorer. Must have been 85 inside the house. Turned around and went back outside to work in the rain.

Morning.

43/47 just dandy weather 👍

The house is comfortable with no heat.

Trying to decide if I dare take the window AC's out yet, or if we're going to be roasted some more yet this year.

Yesterday, I got my 2511p back from @Ketchup ....I believe he knows his stuff on these little guys!

Morning fellas. I think we've finally turned the corner with weather. We're only supposed to hit 30 today. Decided to take a day off and relax.

Fired up the stove late Friday evening and it's been going since. I upgraded my stove in the house to match the garage, so I don't have to keep different length firewood for different stoves. Same brand, just bigger. This thing is going to have zero trouble keeping this house as hot as I want, even down to negative temps.

Have a good Sunday everyone.
