I hope so too. It is an insurance company after all. And insurance companies generally don’t like handing out money.

On my soap box. [emoji849]

While on the subject of homes burning up:

Who is on the spot to offer assistance? Clothing and shelter. [emoji106]

The Red Cross.

Not the Salvation Army.

And who offers assistance with family in the military?

The Red Cross. No one motivates a commanding officer more.

Not the Salvation Army.

Who has a presence at nearly every military post (a happy hootch)?

The Red Cross. Coffee & donut with a fair young woman. [emoji108]

Not the Salvation Army.

So fellas, make sure your charity dollar is spent wisely.

Skip the United Fund, give direct. [emoji6]

I’ll whole heartedly agree. While the insurance company gave us a large chunk of money to assist with living, we basically paid for that privilege through years of payments and no claims. The Red Cross transferred $550 dollars directly to our checking account that day. We didn’t even know it until we were notified through email. It came in handy since we couldn’t remove anything from the house the first few days. Including clothes. We literally had what we were wearing.

So, I didn't get to run the new snowblower. There were several skid steers out and about cleaning roads and driveways and someone already got to it. He just bought it a year ago, then found out he had cancer and has been battling that since. He only got to use it once and was pretty excited I was going to be able to use it. Oh well.........we're grateful someone helped him out and cleaned the drive. I went ahead and scooped the sidewalks and deck area, then came home and attacked my drive.

Alan and Rebekah are going to come out Saturday the 28th to help me clean up “the pile” that’s out back by the shop and inside the privacy fence. Just stuff that I’ve turned a blind eye to or “I might use that someday.” Well, someday has come and gone and I’ve decided I’m just tired of being a mess. I figured if I can get it into separate piles I can start hauling cra@ to the landfill.

How far from Hays?

We have a quarter section out north of Hays. I usually bowhunt out there each year but I've not made it out the last 3. Every time I go out there, I notice more of our 6-8" Hackberry down. There's not much timber there to begin with.
