Honestly it’s what brought everyone in the oilfield to the Milwaukee side, they now are just crap…

Having a number of their corded and cordless tools, I'm scratching my head over why Milwaukee wants $16 for a bottle opener made in China. They're trading on their past good name and selling Chinese stuff. I suppose because everyone else does the same unfortunately.

A Son in Law would wear their underwear, and eat their breakfast cereal if Milwaukee would brand it.

I just watched a video comparison of Milwaukee DeWalt and Ridgid cordless framing nailers.... I'm definitely cured of wanting the DeWalt....
The Ridgid actually looked the most promising from my angle.... though I don't really like Ridgid cordless tools much based on the few I used to own.

The DeWalt seemed to be slightly underpowered, but the part that bothered me was how they started out working very well, but then their performance would rapidly deteriorate until they wouldn't work at all. It did not appear to take very long either.

Dewalt 20/60 flex batteries run the chainsaw for a long time. Metabo and snap-on grinders are identical when placed side by side. But the batteries don't mix but look the same. Need to look for a hack on which tab to remove. Really liking the rechargeable LED lights with magnets. Hang them just about anywhere you need light.

Hedgerow said it best IMO............pick a brand and roll with it. I started with Milwaukee, because my buddy used them. I have another buddy who's die hard Dewalt. Ford vs Chevy, Husky vs Stihl, Milwaukee vs Dewalt. As long as you're happy with what you got and it works for you, that's all that matters.

I do like the idea of a cordless miter saw. I have 2 Dewalt corded miter saws at the moment.

I was kind of hoping the cold snap was going to hang around so I could see how her southern (Georgia ) boyfriend handled it. I had designs on cutting some firewood in 0* conditions.

Sometimes the tool dictates the brand. I bought a Bosch Hammer/Rotary/Rotary Hammer to remove square tile, bush the floor level enough to do plank tile, no other brand was considered. It and a wet tile saw was way cheaper than the quote we got to tile the floor.

I started with ryobi, and for my use they've held up OK. Sale time before Christmas has me adding tools. 1/4" hammer with 1/2" drill with 2 batteries was $20 more than 1/2" drill by itself. New batteries always help 1/4" hammer drill runs wood screws very well
They say it's 41 and may add 3-4 more in next few hours

I had a mental lapse, when I commented. When I started using cordless tools for my business, I started using Milwaukee. But, I did buy a 8 or 10 piece Ryobi tool kit in like 2005, back when they were still blue, and they still came with nickel cadmium batteries (I think that's what those batteries were). Even back then, they did everything I needed them to. When I switched to Milwaukee, I gave that set to my Dad and he used them. Not sure if he still has them or not honestly. I'm pretty sure he bought a new kit of Ryobi tools, that are green, and had the lithium batteries. And truth be told, if I were just a tinkerer and only used cordless tools for around the house projects, Ryobi, price wise, would be hard to beat. Nothing wrong with them if they serve your needs.

Why I only find pieces of steel when I have a new, or barely used chain on, is beyond me. Probably didn't help, the fact that I gave her the beans when I felt it, as opposed to stopping. There's probably another 10 or so cutters equally as bad. I guess I needed a beater chain. So I sharpened it back up, as best I could and will run it. One of those logs I brought back is riddled with wire. It was a 1/4" rod that did this.
