Ran into a guy this morning using this. First one I’ve seen in the wild in my area. He’s having trouble with it. It’ll quit firing. If he takes off the recoil cover and blows it out it’ll fire again. Possible bad coil getting hot?

Isn't that a Dolmar?
I am thinking those have the unobtainable coils.
Great saws until they have coil issues.
My memory may be off though...

Yes it is! That’s why I was so shocked to see it. Only one I’ve ever seen here

I’ve got 3. IIRC they come from the factory with a limited coil that is problematic. But I also seem to recall there’s an unlimited coil available.

Easy enough to test ignition.
Dark room.

I dont know squat about that clamshell, but I'd spray some brake cleaner around the flywheel to rule out a crank seal.

I have around 25-30 items on Marketplace saved from all over and if I travel in that direction I'll check to see if the item is still available and if so pick it up.
I picked this up on Marketplace yesterday when I was in West Plains. It was listed as a gas can. It's a NOS fuel tank for the Homelite 24V auxiliary power unit used on a B-17 bomber.

I don't think they are a clamshell design, just an aluminum chassis instead of magnesium. But they are known for coil issues, and lots of coil and flywheel combinations.

If it is a bad coil good their is a chance you'll have to move the flywheel to time it. That series of saw was about about mid year updates during run.

Not a clammy. Them newer 5600s are.

Saw this yesterday at an antique shop up herea.d saw this.View attachment 351626 View attachment 351627
It's 20" long. Price orginally said $800 now marked down to 600.

I'd imagine it'll be there a while.
If that is over 150lbs, then that is probably not a bad price. $4 a pound is cheap for an anvil these days.
My understanding is that a Peter Wright is a quality piece and will hold good value if not abused.

Thank you. That's the information I was looking for.
