Stupid question my freinds is this oil safe for saws
I’m no 2-stroke oil scientist. Would I use it in a pinch: YES. Would I buy it: NO, unless I was desperate for oil and that’s all there was. I think we overthink the oil debate. Are some better than others: definitely, I think so. Do they all work: definitely, as far as I know they do. Saws used to run on 30 wt. motor oil!!!

Ok I bought 5 of them and didn't realize it was marina oil until I went to mix some more fuel up so I didn't use it I used some husqvarna oil instead

Asking a question like that can get a lot of knickers in twist…
Yes, it will work at prescribed ratios for chainsaws. 32/40/50:1

Basically from what I have read & seen you would have to be running some horse whiz to not provide enough lubrication at recommended ratios for the “AVERAGE” chainsaw user.

There are brand hoes out there that tell you brand X is the best stuff going & arguments ensue & knickers get twisted up.

@Hinerman said it best, a lot of overthunking when it comes to oil.

I think the issue is the ash deposits on the marine oil. They are designed to be run at lower temps bc they are liquid cooled. On air cool saws they ash up faster is my understanding. I’ve always been told not to unless out of all else. Would it work Prlly. Would I run it, Not if I had something else.

I agree. In a pinch it won’t hurt but marine oil is made for a different application of engine. They don’t rev near as high as a saw engine and they run cooler. I think I’ve read somewhere that it has to do with “sheare” resistance of the oil and temperature resistance. With that being said, I’ve run a LOT of different 2 stoke oils with no ill effects. I’ve probably 10 different brands in the pile and will usually grab the first one I see when I’m mixing up fuel.

Morning Midlanders!

On this Facebook marketplace thing: There are a lot of tire kickers out there. None willing to get off their arse to come take a look.

Morning...
Yep, Facebook is full of jokers for sure.....guess that's what happens when something that was designed for wasting people's time gets used for business transactions..
I miss the good ol' paper ad's......with telephone numbers.
It's amazing how people are actually scared stiff to talk on the phone these days!

I ran half a tank of WD 40 mixed with gas at 40;1 once..
It survived. And finished the project.

Yeah, lots of idiots and keyboard warriors on marketplace. I buy a lot from there but I never sell anything. I trade only and seldom do I ever meet at my house unless it’s unavoidable and I hang a 9mm hole puncher on my belt in plain sight. I’ve never had any problems. 7 out of 10 aren’t serious. They are the ones that always ask if I still have the item and nothing else from them after that. Craigslist down here seems ineffective anymore so I quit them.
I actually prefer messaging only for first contact. It helps weed out the weird ones. With that being said the people I’ve dealt with were nice folks. A lot of them were very nice and polite and after the trade was done we sat and just talked about things. Everyday Life in general. When we’re done with a trade for instance I always say that they are the proud owner of (fill in the blank) and when they’re driving it home, if it breaks in half, they own both halves. I also tell them I have a 30/30 warranty. 30 seconds or 30 feet, whichever occurs first. I’ve actually never had a bad experience on marketplace. Maybe it’s because I treat people fairly and with respect. If I’m doing a trade I tell them the good along with the bad. If I’m buying I tell them this is a negotiating game to simply get the lowest price I can. It’s just a game to me. Nothing more. If I think the price is fair I just buy it. I’ve also told some I’m not buying because I thought they weren’t asking enough and let them make the decision if they still want to sell.
I ignore the ones that have “rare” in their ad and the ones that say “I know what I have”.

I picked up a Troybilt tiller from Lowes a few years ago. It had been returned because of a broken rod. $800 tiller I bought for $100. I bought an engine from Harbor Freight for another $100 and put on it. Gave it to my daughter as a Christmas present. The PO had taken it home and started tilling with it. Didn’t read the manual at all. It had no oil in the engine, even though it came with a qt to put in it. Living proof that idiots walk the planet.
I bought the wife a chainsaw last night from Walmart. The new Hart brand they’re carrying. My son has bought a few battery powered tools from them and they seem pretty decent. This one is 40 volt and seems pretty nice. It came with one battery and charger. I looked into the price for a spare battery. Geez, it was $150. As much as what I paid for the saw. Saw was on clearance.
But the first thing I did was read the manual.
