Helping my uncle with peanut harvest this year. Pretty neat operation. I’m amazed by this combine. Has a pick rate of less than 1 good peanut per square ft left behind.

The peanut plants are windrowed then that is just a pickup header on the front of a threshing machine ?

The digger is kinda like what they use for potatoes. It smaller ran behind a tractor. It digs them and turns them over. They have to stay like that and air 4-5 days. Then this machine is the pull behind combine that grabs the windrows and picks the nuts off the vines. We will also on some fields bale the left over vines for hay. $40/ round bale I’m told is the going rate.

Throwing this out there. Usual friend who fishes with me is unable to do so because of his step-sons wedding. My wife always worries for some reason about me going by myself, but that is what I set the boat up for. So if someone or two people would like to fish Stockton lake with me on Thursday I'm open to it. If you are between the lake and Diamond I will gladly pick you up on the way or if you want to meet then there is a $5 parking charge unless you have a Corp of Engineer hang tag. Rolling though Reeds, Golden City, Lockwood and Greenfield. Got some mowing to do so I will check back in tonight.

Wish I could get away from work, too.

Wish I wasn’t lashed to the plant the rest of the week...

That’s a hell of an offer..
Keep thinking I'd get you out there one of these days. Just hard to plan ahead most of the time. Some time I'm going to hit white bass on Grand at the right time and I'll dump a cooler on your back porch for you to clean.

I asked my aunt about a couple dead oaks behind her house & she said go ahead. This was the first one, I thought it was burnt from lightning but…

My uncle told me that my cousin’s son & a buddy tried hacking it down a few years ago & junked his Husky 357 in the process. Apparently they got it so hot that they started the saw dust on fire & subsequently the tree.

It’s been standing dead for about 12 years, I am thinking most of it is ready to burn as soon as I can get it bucked & split.

It’s about 36” at the butt & probably about 30” at the first burnt off fork.

I also took down a large Cherry for a friend, he is going to mill some boards out of it. It was 26” at the base, the first 7’ were bowed & twisted but the rest was in pretty decent condition. IIRC, I blocked out three 9’ sections & 4 shorter chunks.
He gave me a loaf of jalapeño & cheddar bread along with some green cotton/linen paper.
