It’s 0* outside, 80* in the living room with the front door open, fresh air is good for everyone. Kids & grandkids are comfortable Mama is complaining a bit.

I am heading out to shovel some snow & prep the grill for some steaks later.

Sellers can choose to ship Sure Post for less money, and UPS will deliver to you local post office.

It is about the "last mile" of delivery being so expensive, and this is a way they have found to offset the cost.
I guess they figure that the USPS driver is making that drive everyday anyways...

Local postal guy (office) had customer complain and tracked that package onto a skid of packages that had SAT on the floor up north St Louis county while forklifts ran around it several days. Less than 70 miles away. Waiting for computer or something

Looked at some kw w900 this weekend. White is a twin stick 400 Cummins walking beam rear. The green is a Allison trans 6v92t Detroit and torsion bar rear suspension. I think I’m gonna try to work out a deal on these ole girls. I think they’ll be slick. They were house movers.

Fire at best friend Lefty's place. Took out chicken coop, 8 chickens and his barn along with a lot of equipment including his saws, chains, trailer, tractor (he just purchased) and my splitter. At least @Wood Doctor wood is okay, and Lefty and Bunny are not hurt, just in shock.
Very rough start for the year. Happy new year all.

That twin stick will keep you busy. Dad had an old rock truck with a 5x4 in it. I was pretty young but drove it a little hauling some corn.
Those old KW’s are pretty good rigs.

Yes, that is a crappy start to the year but most importantly no one was injured or lives lost. That equipment can be replaced.

Welp, looks like we got the snow & the “bug”. Mama got sick as a dog about 3:30 this morning. Looks to be a short night & a long day.

On the good side, I just got to see a big Ol’ meteor streaking across the eastern sky. Low,long, slow burner that was nice & green;
running from north- south.

Got up at 4 with no power. Glad for the wood stove keeping things toasty. Saw a few trucks go by and power back on at 4:40 and according to the website it went off at 1:30. I was half figuring that the windmills had frozen up. Probably just someone hitting a pole running too fast as usual.

Thanks all. I have a Makita 6421 and @Wood Doctor are going to get the oiler fixed. That should substitute for his 044 that is dead. Of course, tons of chains as we kept most out at his place, plus all his equipment from his removal business but not used (other than some of the ropes). Over 40 years of stuff gone for him, and most can't be replaced. He also lost 3 Echo top handles including one he just purchased so will work on that. Need to look at the tractor to see if it's just the tires or worse for it. Trailer is gone so needs replaced. Doubtful that the splitter can be repaired so will have to give some thought on it, at least we still have the 35 ton that Edwin is using.
You're right, no loss of human life, did loose 8 chickens and unsure about cats, but dogs are fine. Stay warm all.
