Something powered by a Briggs and Stratton maybe?
No. We did that already. But powered by a Kohler..
This one may be 8-10,000 lbs of fire breathing Ag power...
IH 1066 or Ford 9600
Still checking out the possibilities.
Need to be able to go as low as 8000 lbs.

Goal accomplished. Project truck is running. As my Dad used to say, "As smooth as a Singer sewing machine". Only it's quiet now. Passenger exhaust manifold was broke in half. As in TWO pieces. When I bought it, I knew it was cracked, so I got a new manifold then. In disassembly, I found it came out in two pieces. Filling the engine with coolant, got the pee scared out of me. Coolant started pouring out the rear of the engine. My son found the problem. I'd missed putting the computer temperature sensor in. All good now, though I started having horrid thoughts of having to take everything back apart to find the problem.
Now to get it road ready. Lots easier than engine work.

Depends on the boat. This one ain't. :)

How well do you like having a jet drive on that boat and how well does that 20 move it? A friend has an old Ouchita boat made in Arke-saw somewhere in the '60's that's a 16'er in need of an engine. It's a v bottom though with a relatively wide transom. I'm trying to convince Him that he may be greatly disappointed with a 9.9...

Eat some fresh seafood while you are there. I went to a fresh seafood market on a pier about 2 hours from you (Chincoteague Island). They cooked (steam, boiled, or broiled) anything you picked out, fresh from the ocean. I had a giant lobster and the biggest shrimp I ever seen. A boat pulled in and they brought us raw oysters right off the boat; I tell you that so you will know how fresh the seafood was. The place was not fancy, a couple of sides to pick from (corn on the cob and cole slaw IIRC), and nothing fried; we ate outside on the pier. A meal I will never forget; Red Lobster will never be the same again.

I don't understand the fascination with raw oysters. I had a couple and thought "not much flavor and kinda gross going down but not too bad". Then, I had a third, and it was bad, which I understand can happen. I ran to the rail and started heaving. I would sit back down and just thinking about it sent me back to the rail. My cousins, whom lived there, were laughing their freaking heads off. I told them "If I lose my lunch, I'm kicking your ass, and you are paying for my lunch, then we are coming back tomorrow". I held it in and everybody got a good laugh. Fun times and fantastic food.

I've had them raw and am of the opinion that their consistency is similar to phlegm, with a bit of grit mixed in. Now, oysters Rockefeller aren't bad. In either event, the fresh sea food is amazing here and is one of the highlights of my trips out here, along with swimming in the salt water and seeing thee various historical sights like the Cape Henry lighthouse made in 1782...

Love it! Have to have a jet to run these shallow, rocky rivers over here, mainly fish the Big Piney. The boat is a 17' long x 42" wide & this 20hp (25hp power head) is plenty. Not real fast at around 19-20 mph, but planes good and will run in just a few inches of water. Your friend's boat probably will not perform well with a 9.9. A 25 would be perfect.

I majored in mechanical engineering at Rolla. Minored in creek wading the Big and Little Piney, Huzza creek, Merimac etc. Drive down a gravel road until I came across a low water crossing, park the car and go fishing.

We live about a mile and a half from Boiling Springs on Boiling Springs road. One hour south of Rolla. You've likely fished around here.

Back then, anything in the Rolla area on the map with 'springs' part of the name required an exploration.

Meh, that was fifty years ago![emoji15]
