Morning everybody.Did you ever find out how deep that well was Steve?
Bleach. Used to add it to my wellThe old tank was a 42 gallon total capacity. Bladderless type tank.
With the 20/40 pressure switch that gave it about a 10 gallon drawdown before the pump kicked on.
The new tank is 85 gallon total capacity bladder type with a 22 gallon drawdown using a 40/60 pressure switch that I went with. 30 gallon with a 20/40 switch. I've been having a problem with bacteria in the water and the old tank might have been contributing to that. It was at least 20 years old. Part of shutting the Postage Stamp down, each time we leave, is draining the pressure tank. But with the old tank there was always about 4 gallons of water that couldn't be drained. Every time I'd recharge the tank and run it through a cycle I'd get about 2 gallons of nasty brown water before it cleared up.
All other tests come up ok.
Yep. I used about 2 cups bleach to 5 gallons. Dumped that down the well then stuck a garden hose down the well and turned it on for about 10 minutes to get everything circulated. Let it sit for 24 hrs then started pumping it out. When I got finished pumping (I still had a small amount of bleach smell) but time was running out so I left it for 2 weeks. When I came back I started pumping some more and noticed the bleach smell was gone.Bleach. Used to add it to my well
Glad to hear it is working out "well" 4 UYep. I used about 2 cups bleach to 5 gallons. Another observation I made was with the old tank the water was a little hazy. Not horrible but not like well water I'm used to seeing. With the new tank I cycled the tank 3 times. About 66 gallons of water before I took my water sample.
This time the water was remarkably clearer.
Holy cow, that’s ridiculous. I’m glad it finally arrived. Merry Christmas.
