6.5 x 284 Norma is based off the 284 Winchester,

Wildcatters liked the fat squatty shape and started tinkering around with it , then they slapped a 6.5 143 grain low drag bullet in it and it went wild with 1000 yard plus competition shooters ,

Long range hunters fell in love with it as well .

One show on outdoor channel they shot a pronghorn at 1358 yards this morning,

No kick, easy on barrel, accurate as hell .

I likes me most any 6.5 mm. It all started with an 6.5 x 50 semi rimmed Arisaka. Then I acquired a .264 Win Mag in a Mark X.

But the barrel looked like the rifling was cut with worn out hoof rasp. Jacket fouled horribly. [emoji90] Rebarreled it to 7mm Rem Mag.

Then I cut down a 6.5 x 55 Swede. Cheap but turned out nice.

Eventually rechambered an Arisaka to 6.5 x 51 NATO/T65/.308 Win. Or just necked up .243 Win brass. [emoji108] Barrel is marked .260 Rem now. [emoji6]

How far off is the ‘6.5 Creedmore’ from .260 Rem? Not much I suspect.

I don’t shoot long guns anymore. Too much damage to skinny geezer shoulder. [emoji2959]

Close enough that .1 mil will cover the difference most times.

I used to load 110 grain Hornady HP’s on 57 grains of IMR 4350 out of the .270 for bench rest shooting..

Not for the 1000 yard shooting though.
