I'm certainly no expert but I think I've read somewhere that if naturally dried about 15% or a little higher is all they'll get to. Somewhere around the 10% Mark is the ideal spot.
Then again, does the 10% goal even matter that much? I doubt kilns were even thought of 100-200 years ago and look at the quality of furniture made back then.

I’m not sure they ever get that low.. I sure ain’t got 3 years to wait and see..
It’s gonna get assembled and mounted long before it hits 10%.

Just for curiosity, I checked some moisture percentages.

The first one is a piece of ash that I recently worked into a small board

The second is hedge that I worked up about a year ago

The third is the bare top of a 100 plus year old walnut stand table.

Most folks I have spoken with around here are clueless as to what they are. I saw one when I was just an ankle biter, granddad also talked of using them.

I saw that one, the ones I was thinking of looked kind of like an old milking pail/bucket. I believe that one is more for getting water than cleaning & deepening.
