Yes it is miserable out there. Thankfully, I passed through a minuscule rain cloud on my way home and had half a dozen rain drops hit the wind shield. Really cooled things off for about a tenth of a mile.

A buddy of mine was going to throw out this mattock head because it had a broken handle. I snagged it and went to Orscheln for a new handle. New handle - $16. Whole new tool - $19. Came home whittled the handle down to fit the head and went to town. Just before I drove in the wedge I gave'er a few good thumps to seat the head down good and tight. The result:


By the time I go and buy a bottle of gorilla glue and friction tape, I could've just bought a new one. But this one will have its own unique personality. I think I'll blame it on the weather.
