Buy a 395 and save ya some cash.:couch:

Funny you say that, because I looked for a Husky dealer before I bought my Stihl's, and swore the closest one was 60-70 miles away, and my Stihl guy is 17 away. So I went with Stihl, because I don't get the way of the Husky dealer very often, and I don't travel much. I just looked again, and seen that there's one 20 miles away, and one 30 miles away! Don't know why I missed that to begin with, but it does give me some options anyway. Considering I would like to try an Alaskan mill at some point, maybe a 395 is the way to go, now that I know there's a dealer close by!

And yeah, the 661 ain't cheap! Which is why I bought the 660's to begin with. I got both of them, together, for well under what a 661 would cost. Might have to look into a 395 and use it as a dual purpose!

I just called one of the places and priced a 395, full wrap, with 36 inch bar, and it is 300 bucks less than a 661! Looks like I'll be buying my first Husky after the first of the year. I've spent enough on chainsaws this year.

Now come on out from behind the couch Sir! It's gona be OK! Lol!

Husqvarna parts are easily available online with ipls. One reason I moved that direction.

Lol crazy isn't on them price difference. Now if you didn't already know but with a little massagmas and a bar adapter your Stihl bars will work on that 395.

I have noticed Husky parts seem more plentiful online, unless you buy the Chinese stuff for Stihl. Which is good, because my Stihl dealers around here, are actually tractor dealers first. So they can sell Stihl stuff, but don't know crap about them otherwise, and it's a pain to get parts.

I was looking at a milling chainsaw awhile back and about fell over, when I saw the price difference between the 880 and the 3120, and that's online prices. At least 500 bucks! I have no complaints with my 461's or my 660's overall, other than my 660's are lacking just a bit, in power, one real big trunks, but now that I found a Husky dealer close by, it's going to be Husky from here on out, based on cost alone. Not that I should "need" many more saws, other than, just because. My 461's are less than 2 years old, and my 660's have been completely rebuilt, from seals and bearings, to the jug and slug and carb and that's been less than a year ago.

I know I've seen Stihl bars on Husky's but I wasn't sure what it entailed. I'll have to look into that. That's one thing I do enjoy, is being able to swap bars. I'm not much on one off stuff.

Now I don't have to decide Mtronic or carb version! Lol! Thanks Dub for bringing it up, which made me look again for dealers in my area!

Thank you! I will see what it entails. I do have machine tools, so I may be able to make something myself. If not, I will definitely get with him! Thanks again Sir!

Last Stihl bar I did the conversation too I just use a cheapo Carbide burr in a dremel to lengthen the slot. Fastest way I've done it so far.

I've done a little reading on it, since earlier, and I'm presuming that's so you can use the same chains as well, since the drive link count doesn't quite match up? Stihl 36 inch is 114 dl and it looks like Husky is 115 dl. I've seen a few posts, in my short time researching, saying that if a guy wants to use the shorter Stihl chain, they need to lengthen the bar stud slot. Is this what you are referring to?

You are making this way more difficult than it needs to be.

Mike (Homelite410) produces a Stihl bar to Husky mount adapter.

You install this adapter on your Husky, then install the bar/chain combo from your old
Creamsickle and go to work.

It is that simple.
