Are they the thorny variety of honey locust?That's a fact! It's the best we got out this way, and thankfully in the towns around here it's plentiful. Lots of old trees!

Or the Black Locust “yellowish wood”
Or I hear tell of towns planting a thornless variety of honey locust for shade trees.
