Insurance companies go to great lengths not to pay...
If there were no such thing as crop insurance, you would see a whole lot less acres of corn and beans planted in Kansas LOL
Probably would have more cows.

And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.

How often does it need it?
And here I thought my Sennia at 6.5 quarts was impressive lol.
Mercedes says 20k!
I am a little over 10k right now.
I may send in an oil sample just for curiosities sake, but either way, it is getting changed.

Also, I edited my earlier post. It only holds 13 quarts.

It's the government so shouldn't paying be easy? :p

We can't all be cattlemen.

They are about 4-5 days early, Jan 1 is the targeted start date. Dad always tried to shoot for Feb. 1 but since my brother got involved he moved it up to Jan. 1.
I get the February thing for the hot part of the country, but January in IA seems pretty brutal cold.

Trying to beat the spring calf crop to market?
We always tried to get calves on the ground starting in February, but just so the cows can get bred back before it gets so unbearable hot in the summer. And so the calves can capitalize on the new grass in April/May.

They have a good solid barn & a couple of smaller sheds & a decent set of lots to rotate them thru, with a 10-12 acre grove blocking off the north wind, but yes it can be be pretty cold. They get checked every 3 hours. The wet weather always seems to be a bigger problem than the cold.

Summer heat, fresh grass & they always seemed to string out into April & my brother didn’t like trying to start spring field work & messing with calving cows. It’s their program, I just help them out.

Or just get rid of the habitual late calvers (must be the ugly ones if they are always the last ones bred), it’s similar to keeping the ones that want to kill you because “they raise a hell of a calf”, no point in that in my opinion. But its worked for them for 40+ years.

Where the above comes from:
The area around St. Joseph is known as The Midland Empire.

Levi and his buddies borrowed the splitter and the term tearing up an anvil with a rubber mallet comes to mind.
Austin was clever enough to use the splitters own ram to bend a couple items on the log lift, shear a pin, break a weld.....

WE!!!!!!

Are gonna fix it today.....
