The “lights out” shots may equate to better meat quality..Shot the doe first and was going to let the smaller one walk, but he wouldn't leave and kept pawing the ground. Little button buck received a frontal lobotomy. It will be tender and good on the grill. I will spare the pictures.
I've stayed inside today, except to go out and get supplies from the shop and van.
Played some games with my children and my wife this morning.
This afternoon, my 2 oldest boys are helping me build a little panel for a customers temperature monitoring/logging application. Kinda turned our livingroom into a shop space...
It's fun to get to do a project that they can help on.
Dad always said no matter how much you cook the horns they just dont eat.Better eating anyway.
I did that last year. Got 3.Lots

Yea that was a 10pt buck at 80 on the interstate. At least our air bags didn’t go off like your friends did. Would’ve been a lot more dollars I suppose.

Don't see any venison.
I need to try one of these some day. I will have a .50AE soon, but being a lover of potent wheel guns, the .460 and .500 intrigue me, as does the BFR...Worked up a load for my deer rifle. 200 gen hornady ftx running 2368fps at 10' from the muzzle. Last year it put a 4" entry and a 1" exit. Good to 300 yrds if you can hold it steady. 460 smith mag.![]()

A friend has a bfr 30-30 and it's a tack driver. Interesting guns but I like my 460 better.Well, we did see 2 roosters and 2 hens. NO QUAIL... It was a bit cold, but we've hunted worse. Plus any day in the field with Dad, given that He's now 3 years older than His Father made it, is a blessing. We still had a damn-fine lunch and it was to good to see friends and spend time in the field, a tradition going on roughly 27 years now... Plus I got to meet @Cat 525 and see the farm and part of his herd of Sexy Swedes... I'm firmly convinced that I'll have a 395xp... May still buy a 390xp for no other reason than just because... That Miller 359 was speaking to me too! I must confess though to having skidder envy. I NEED one of those in my life.
