Morning everybody.
Currently in the hospital. Apparently I had a Mini-Stroke yesterday. Left arm went numb along with left side of my face . Going through all the blood workups I also found out I'm diabetic. Did an MRI yesterday afternoon of my brain. More tests today to check my heart. Talk like I'll be here a day or two. I'll try and keep things up to date.
One good thing is I'm still on the top side of the daisies.
Really sorry to hear that. Thats a hecuva way to be diagnosed with diabetes but at least now you know and can deal with it. I was diagnosed bout 20 years ago. I just figure i have one more thing wrong that can kill me. Get control of it and live life. God bless you

Now for some goodnews and bad news. I went to my favorite little salvage yard today. The yard foreman motioned me over and said he had something i might be interested in. Someone had brought in a husqy 357xp that was locked up. He freed it up but couldnt get it started. I brought it home and checked compression. It was a wopping 70 psi. No wonder it wouldnt start. I havent had chance to investigate it further. I think it has a decompression but have no idea if its stuck open or not.
Kinda figuring it was straight gassed and will need new piston and ring but dont know yet
This is a real clean machine doesnt look real used. Is it worth fixing? Will pull muff when get a chance to see about scoring
Ill leave it up to yall to decide which is the good news and which is the bad

Dang Steve! Sorry to hear that! Do what your Drs tell you, and get better soon. Keep us updated on how you're doing.

Dont know and dont know how to find out. Only my second husky. Other is a 61 practica

The tag will say and the auto decomp goes through a transfer port and can be plugged with a grub screw.

The first year 357 used a different piston pin diameter that the the rest which can be a hassle when chasing parts.

Only year listed on tag is ANSI B175.1 - 2000 but saw was introduced in 2003 so that aint it. Where else would year be listed? There is no apparent difference regarding effort reqd to pull engine over whether blue decomp is in or out
Also, where is sn?

Only tag I know of is behind the top handle on the clutch side.

Gonna pull it down to see if cylinder can be salvaged. If not will a big bore kit drop in? Which is the best AM kit? Is the extra 2.5 cc worth it? Is nikasil much better than chrome? All help appreciated

Yes on mm, and I haven't heard of anything in particular bad about the am pistons, def caber rings and unless you are porting it I'd just set the squish and maybe advance the timing.
Sounds like a plan. Muff mod? AM piston? Caber rings. Any simple mods to the jug?
