Dampens firing pulse input into the alternator and the belt squeak when the the diesel compression brings the crank to an abrupt stop when shut off.
Yup, poor yuppies can't have that squeak. Heaven forbid we drive vehicles that actually make a Lil noise.

And yes, our Chrysler van has the alternator clutch that cost 30.00 to have replaced when the rubber gave out. I just don't see the necessity of it.....

You're absolutely correct, Mike.
Some of the stuff that is designed into vehicles today is ridiculous. Ford, Chevy or whoever.

I think it's the Ford Festiva that comes to mind. Manual transmission is manual with a clutch.
Automatic is a manual with computer controlling clutch and shifting.
I mean, why?

We wholesale every one that we trade for. Sent the first few to Ford to have repaired and they said that's the way they are supposed to function.

It's interesting to see the face of a customer that says the subwoofer in the back of his vehicle doesn't work when you tell him it isn't a subwoofer. It generates sound to negate road noise that is picked up by a microphone in the passenger compartment. That's its only purpose.

Some of the stuff that they put in the vehicles today absolutely retarded and absolutely unnecessary. I really miss the days of when the most luxurious thing was a cup holder. The worst of it all is the idolatry of the masses that is put on these vehicles that are nothing but objects that wither and die. I had to chuckle the other day when I went to the scrap yard and there's a 2001 Denali 1500 rusting away smashed with the engine and transmission gone. I looked at that and told myself yep just just like the rest of them, that Denali badge doesn't mean a damn thing!

Waste of money. Simple as that. Take that money and give us ss brake, fuel, and ac lines so the vehicles will last in the northern states!

I do like my back up camera In the center of the dashboard.[emoji108]
'15 Dodge Caravan.
And: The slap shift feature when you want to select gears on your own instead of the 'puter.

BTW: Don't expect to best a 3.8 Mopar in a 100' drag. First three gears are low and very close together.

I'd still like to own a normal car someday instead of a van. This is our fifth one since '84.[emoji849]

Blondie's vans.
'84 Voayger. Built in diaper changing table at the sliding door for baby Michael. Weak arse four banger.
'90 Dodge: 3.0 L. Longer with back seat heat and air.
2000: Two sliding doors!
2007: We changed to red.
2015: Red again. We keep a Jack-In-the-Box clown on antenna to find it in the parking lot amongst the others.

'95: Bought used as extra car as needed. 92,000 miles but sucked up a ton of repairs.
