Well, the mighty splitter has eaten its way through all of the logs I have. My wood “fence” is about 50 feet long at this point. That machine was worth the price of admission!

I'm glad I finally decided not to mill those two long logs, they were both full of voids where they'd grown over branches shed in earlier years, wouldn't have been good wood. The maple had baling wire in it from twenty years prior, the chain would have loved that part.

Teacherman, find a nice used Whisper Chipper drum style with a gas 6cyl Ford.
They are very easy on fuel. Can be purchased reasonably.
Diesel power is great but will double your purchase price.
If you need pictures let me know.
Well, that looks to be a serious piece of equipment. 8 grand takes one home. I don't know if I'm quite ready to do this, but if I get to where I'm cutting down a lot of trees, this would be the way to go, esp with all of the junk trees of paradise, cottonwood, silver maple, and so forth growing around here.

Thanks!

I have heard more than one tree service operator state the most important piece, most needed, biggest time saver, can't live without, best investment, how did I survive without, etc. was a chipper and a chipper truck/dump trailer.

Both of you are correct.
300 Ford 6cyl gas industrial version.
Most useful tool is an understatement!
My buddy and I bought one for $600 at auction about 15 years ago. 2 flat tires and engine wouldn't start.
Two new tires, a new battery and a $8 fuel filter from O'Rielly's. Changed the oil & filter and it was up
and running like an open sore.
Still in use today, but maybe only once or twice a year. But once you own one you will never be without it.
Kind of like a tractor with a loader or skidsteer if you have any land to maintain.
You all have a safe and productive day!

Good morning!
Bit of a fuss getting His Highness ready for school. He didn't want me to use his kid toothpaste, so I tried my Pepsodent. I thought he might like it, no it was "too spicy!" OK then. Grumpy getting up at three, wait till he's fourteen...

Have a good day!

Been sewing up another holster. A couple of weeks back I picked up a Carhart jacket and it has two inside chest pockets.
Designed this holster to mount to the right side pocket. Outside of the pocket but inside the coat. At a bit of an angle so the barrel pokes a little under the arm. Holster will be Kydex lined to give body to the holster and the Kydex is lined with leather to protect the gun.
We'll see how this turns out.
:)

Guten Morgen, Menschen!

My stepfather just sent me another in a series of stories he is writing for Emerson, of adventures had on "Old 1073," the prairie locomotive that sits in a park downtown. Midnights with a full moon, it takes him to see Old Kansas for some adventures. These are great, and last night's was Emdee and the Soddy Folk, a family of German homesteaders living in a sod house. Good stuff.
