Here is how I got the old washer out of the basement by myself with little effort. For your entertainment...

No fixing it? The new washers aren't worth a hoot.
The timer was out, and Im the only one who was willing to listen for it not spinning and push the switch in and pull it out to make it spin each time. New Whirlpool HE with top load was super cheap at Menards. With my store credits of 250.00, I got it for 225 + tax. The old one was also clunking when it started to spin, adn my stepdaughter will not stop overloading it, so this was the thing to do.

But I agree the new ones are not as sturdy. We'll see how it goes.

AW32 - ATF - 303 it will all work just fine in your splitter.
Hell even water will work but the antiwear, corrosion protection and temp would get ya.
Some of our hydro's run ATF, most use AW32.
Ifin you like to hug your trees before cutting the down you could even run soy based hydro like enviromax or comparable.

Splitter talk! Grimmy blew a seal on his hydro pump with Farm store oil. Oil the splitter came with. I am using Bobcat Brand hydo oil because it about 20 weight. Gets cold up north. Plus I am also using a oil cooler. I keep a few buckets of Bobcat oil on hand for when I break hoses on equipment.

Good morning!

Today is my last day home with the Primate before his kennel, er, uh, school reopens tomorrow. Mid 20s already, so we may get out a bit. We went for a bike ride yesterday, it was a bit cold, but cabin fever frays both our nerves a bit. I do NOT know how stay-at-home parents do it day in day out. My ADHD is so bad I can't structure my own life, let alone that of a growing kiddo (or kiddos). Looking forward to him going back to school, even though he's really pretty much a daddy's boy. Once he can go rock climbing, build things, cut wood, etc., I'll probably resent his having to go to school, but that time will come soon enough. Life is actually pretty good, little to complain about.

I'm ready to start getting out and cutting down some trees. My insurance came through, now I have to take a city license test. I have no idea what will be on it. My rope technique is a hybrid of tree and rock climbing, and I don't hardly use any knots, because carabiners and rope devices work so much more easily, so I may not know enough to pass it. I have a copy of Tree Climber's Companion lying around here somewhere; maybe I should find and read it while the little Hegemon Primate, high chief of the Anthropomaniac tribe watches his one dinosaur movie per day...

Have a good one, gentlemen. Thank you for all the good advice!

@teacherman I bought the Menards generic house brand and its worked great. My splitter leaked a bunch because of a hose clamp so I bought some fluid from AutoZone, STP I think. Mixed it with what was in there with no ill effects. I've read that you should never mix atf and hydraulic oil.

Good morning y'all

SO can I use that when it's cold out? I imagine switching it out every time the weather changes is a PITA, and I read it's ATF under 32˚ and AW32 over. I'd rather have one type that works in all temps.

You'll be just fine with universal tractor hydro oil.
No need to change it out, stuff is too expensive to be doing that.

Morning folks. I'm not familiar with the different craftsman branded saws. What am I looking at here? Guy has it priced at $50.00 and sounds like it needs a carb kit.

I think most were made by Poulan but I may be wrong. I should say, most of the late plastic Craftsman models. I don't know about the old ones. @Digger's Dad is one of the guys that will know, he's done a lot of research. One Craftsman to watch for is a yellow "Professional Series" saw, 40cc, oil and gas cap together where the gas cap typically is. That saw is a Redmax GZ4000, by Zenoah. Awesome small engines!

Check the serial number. If it starts with a 358, I think, its a Poulan.
