So much simpler than messing with junk.

Tip: use the machine thread bolts that come with the new engine. The self tapping Stihl screws suck (and can vibrate loose).

I have had 3 of that series and one 291
That the lower end let go

All of the ‘clamshell’ saws will rattle the chassis/crankcase bolts out.

Especially if the owner buys a chain at Home Depot or wherever to fit his “16” bar. Running 3/8” LP on a .325” Sprocket will shake them out in short order. That is, if they don’t strip out the bar studs trying to keep the chain tight first.[emoji849]

First order of business with them is checking the bolts before any other work is done.
