The direct drive Pro88 has the expected Bendix magneto.
Give a shot at saving it with liquid tape but, not holding our breath.

Keep us posted. Thinking bout buying a electronic coil that has cracks. Sposed to run

Once the coil plastic (?) cracks the plug wire connection looses contact with the tail of the secondary winding.

Secondary winding is .003" diameter cold drawn copper. After fifty years, it is corroded and age hardened. Very brittle and impossible to tin and solder.

As you can imagine, it wouldn't take much vibration (run time) to go open circuit.

The liquid tape will just delay the inevitable.

The squarish Wico coil for a Homie XL-101 type or Remy SL-9 type is a better fix.

I use to be right there with you. But i keep grabbing the 550 more and more.

I had fairly stock 346 and 550 and since Allen got done with my 550 I have been the same way. So now he has both my 346's. We'll see once I get them all ported side by side.

I need a piston and rings for a shindiawa 488.
S'posed to be a 43mm bore?
Anyone got one?
That's a great little saw. 48 cc that has an attitude. You probably know to watch the coil. I've had problems out of both parts of the coil on mine but I still like that little saw. Fun to run. :)
