Organization, work benches, steel shelving, and a clean floor. AWESOME!! If you don't mind me asking for a friend. Stock 036 carb or something larger.

Carb is stock.

Thanks for the comments on the garage. I'm active duty Army, and move every 2-3 years. About to retire, so I'm trying to finally get a garage set up like I want it.

Saw is mostly back together. Just need to rebuild the carb.

I ended up using some Fel-Pro gasket material that's .015" and about .011" when compressed. Since I was at .014" or so with no gasket, I'm at .025" or so. Not perfect, but better than stock.

Other option would have been to go with paper grocery bag like @FederalQ did with his. That would have put me at about .022".

Compression is 175 psi.

Forgive me brothers, for I have sinned. Yesterday, I put some ludicrously large dogs on the 036. They serve no useful purpose except to reduce the effective length of the bar by about 6". I'm going to yank them and put some normal dogs on it.

Saw is pretty much done at this point, except for the bar and chain. I'd like to put a 20" bar on it, but didn't see any in my pile of 3003 bars. I have a Stihl 18" bar, .063, with a 3/8" sprocket tip. That will do for now, as soon as I can get some chain on it.

Almost forgot; I'm missing the choke rod, so had to order one.

Anyway, it's running, but needs to be tuned. I normally tune a saw so it four strokes several hundred rpm under the max recommended rpm for the saw. And I set the idle using a tach at the factory spec - looks like 2,800 rpm.

What about max recommended rpm? Should I stick with the factory setting? I'm seeing conflicting data, but if the factory limit is 13,500, I would probably tune it so it maxes out -- four stroking -- at around 13,000. But modified saws are new to me, so I'm all ears if y'all have any tips.

Forget the tach. Tune it where it wants to be. Set it so that it 4 strokes out of wood at wide open throttle and cleans up when it’s in the wood.

Ok, so I was poking around in the garage, and found not one, but two 20" 3003 sprocket tip bars, both for .063 3/8" chain. Had set these aside for this saw; just forgot that I had them.

One had chain, but it's not in great shape. Will sharpen and do some cutting tomorrow.

Got it. Thanks!

Will probably sell the saw after I test it out. What's the going rate for one of these, bar and chain included?

FWIW there is an MS360 stock with carrying case for sale on Craigslist in this area for $375. The ad has been up for over a month. Prices may vary by region.

That sounds really cheap! Looking on eBay, prices range from $360 to a crusty runner, PHO, to several nice ones from $600 - $650 starting bid.

I'll list it here shortly.

Well, I sunk it into some wood - seasoned oak, 16" or so. She's a badass angry little *b-word!!! Put a big *s-word eating grin on my face. I can only imagine what it would be like with some fresh softwood.

I tuned it as well. Idles at 2,800. Tuning the high side made me nervous looking at the tach. I settled with it topping out at about 14,200, four stroking. Cleaned up in the cut.

Not sure where it would have gone had I leaned it out to where it wasn't four stroking at WOT unloaded, but I didn't have the nerve to lean it out any more than I did.

$300-350. The mods you did might keep people away rather than attract them, even though you did a nice job.

For $350, it will definitely remain on the shelf! Hadn't planned to keep it because it's not a good fit for my 3 saw plan. Had planned to keep my 020T, 026, and 044. Suspect I'll also hang onto an 076 Supah or 090 just in case. Anyway, I don't think I need anything to bridge between the 026 and the 044.

EDIT: I'll drop the price in the classifieds here.

Well, I put it on eBay with No Reserve. Sure hope your estimate is low!
What did it sell for? Nice ones around here go for $600. My dad still has an 036 pro he bought new and has cut firewood for his house every year and literally has done nothing to besides, the normal stuff like filters and plugs. No clue how many hours are on that thing....
