Not really, I wouldn't take a MS 170 if someone gave it to me, but a McCulloch 200 I just need to pay shipping for, anyday!!
I'll take anything for free because I use/sell/trade/give so many parts. I wouldn't pay shipping for a 170 I don't think but a mcculloch 200 I definitely would.

View attachment 443891View attachment 443892Well, I bought a Super XL on eBay and the fellow sent me the wrong saw. He has told me to keep this one (for free) and has since shipped out the SXL I bought. Don’t know anything about it but it looks to be in good shape.
Not sure what I’ll do with it.

Just like the one I learned to saw with. The Super 2 is a lot more capable than it's size would suggest.

It does run, very rich for now. And it needs an air filter. Leaks gas, probably fuel line. Started normally.
I have my Father's, it's an excellent little saw that I use around the house.
It's not worth anything but no money would buy it.

Those XL models often had a carburetor with a fixed H jet, most that I've encountered were so pig rich I wouldn't let them back out the door that way...another reason to collect those little devils for the parts value.
Do you end up using a different carb or is there a way to modify the existing one?

If you want to sell that super 2 let me know. Dad had one years ago that my brother and I learned on. It has since been lost or Dad pitched it at some point.
@av8or3 , not trying to bump in front of whybother, but if the saw is heading down the road, and he loses interest, please let me know. The dual trigger are dang handy limbing saws!

Silly me ,top carb is the one I was running and it clearly had the jet changed to a non governor one, personally I don't remember if I did it?
I have an unmodified hs51 pictured below I might try. The saw passed a pressure/ vacuum test already so it kind of narrowed down to carburetor issues.
