Well, the mail man brought my new Raisman chain today, and here is my initial opinion of it. The raker design is like the ones of old just a straight up raker, no fancy stuff for safety, was also set at .025" spot on. The teeth are the sharpest out of the box I have ever seen. Might possibly be too sharp if there is such a thing. I had to look twice to tell it was not square cut. Has a wild hook to it, with almost a beak to the top plate, it is so angled and sharp. I took out to the wood shed and cut on some soft pine and it did cut really good. I think if a fella took and did just a little bit of work on the gullet this chain as is would blister through wood almost as good as a race chain, least ways a work chain for racing. So for now I give it a passing grade and I would/will be buying more from HL Supply. SS

Well, I took my own advice and took a file to the gullets of the Raisman chain. Only took about four or five strokes to get 'er in shape. Started on the edge of the little bump left from when it was ground and worked towards the tooth. Was able to do this easily and without messing up the factory grind. Was about as much work as a regular filing, not bad at all. I liked that it was already down to the top of the tie straps, I like this as it leaves lots of room for chip. Took the saw out to the shed again, only made one cut, but give me some slack on this as it was ten degrees below zero today. Anyways, bottom line, she cuts, and she cuts good.

I use lots of raisman parts and like them.
I didn't know they made chain,got a link?

I never liked stihl chain, I always run Oregon or carlton but recently got a bunch of old sandvick Windsor chain and wish I had more.

I'm with you on the old sandvick Windsor. I bought some years ago I keep it for myself sell my Oregon Carlton. Gonna be sad when it's gone.

Anybody compared this stuff to the new archer stuff? I picked up an Archer .325 full chisel combo for my 346 and it was kinda slow. I filed it and it's still kinda slow.

Sometimes it isn't the arrows, but rather the Indian.......just sayin'

Well, yes. But I feel that what I did to it should have sped it up more than what it did. It looks really good, .....
I have no doubt.

I had some Forester chain a few years ago that was quite brittle, and just wouldn't take an edge properly. The bummer is that it was 135dl of 3/8 063 full comp.

Ouch. The only Forester b/c I've bought was a cheap 20" combo. Semi and shark fins. Ground the fins off on the bench grinder and it cuts really well.

The archer chain; I don't remember checking the depth gauges. I'll do that tomorrow and see if they're close.

Only tried the .375LP in Archer and it cut excellent. I buried a "Pro" Forester 24"B&C, just so no one else would have to go through the experience I did. I'll have to see how this Raisman holds up with some good cut time on it, that will have to wait a bit. SS

there office is 90 miles from me.
I found that the EFCO USA office is about 15 miles from me. I dropped in to say 'Hi'; they did not have many saws and did not know what to do with me. Mostly sales folks.

Found the Archer US warehouse about 15 miles in another direction. Stopped by and had a nice chat with the guy.

That is cool that you would pop in like that. It would never even cross my mind.
