Trying to adapt a motorcraft 2100 to an inline 6 chevy clifford intake. Getting close. Just a bit of of work on the drill press with a countersink bit and then drill/tap threads.

2100 is my favorite wood truck and off road carb.

Does that manifold get heated from the exhaust manifold?

No sir. On this performance manifold, you have to run coolant to the bottom of the manifold for intake heat. The clifford intake is always paired with headers.

My weekend project 'cause who needs to drive a truck responsibly, run her hard and fast till something (almost, in this case) blows. And don't bother changing gear oil even after 60,000+ miles with towing 20k scattered in a bunch, that oil will still be fine. Jackwang is more worried about whether his truck will be done by Monday than he is the fact that his pinion was hitting his carrier and that I spent 3hrs driving 100 miles to get a rebuild kit I can install so he can hopefully be back on the road Monday.

Oh yeah, and the fact that this is the 2nd truck with a blown rear end that he drives is due to some pinion nut recall on the first truck possibly not being done, this one apparently just got moody or something. His lack of a maintenance schedule, aggressive driving, and going 65mph+ with a combined 20k lbs between the truck and trailer while driving aggressively has no bearing on this. Rant over, back under the truck I go.

I may have been a wee bit irritable when I wrote that, and for fairness' sake I'll amend my statement a bit. For starters, the owner and I have both been dealing with a very crappy and stressful couple of weeks, and yesterday was the crown jewel of crappiness for both of us. So his freaking out about the time frame for the work and my reaction were both a bit overblown due to outside stress. This truck is essential to his work so he's f-ed without it.

Second, he came back and apologized for freaking out, thanked me for going the extra mile, and told me he'd be happy to make it right.

Lastly, I got up at 6 yesterday, left to pick up parts around 8:30 a.m., and got the diff cover torqued down at 1:30 a.m. so I was a bit tired and pissy myself. The axle is basically toast, the carrier needs a flush and rebuild and the carrier races have spun and hurt the housing. I had to tell him this is a bandaid and he needs to source another good used axle. My overhaul may fix it for a week, a month, or 3 years, but that axle is now living on borrowed time.

First time working on the car in a few weeks.

Holley says there's nothing wrong with my ecu and it's on its way back to me.
I double checked all of the o2 sensor wiring. I quadruple checked my injector numbers.
I do need to again verify my actual fuel pressure once I get the computer back.

Currently messing with exhaust.
I think I've got the fore/aft placement of the mufflers figured to give me the most room to eventually work pipe over the axle. For now I'm just going to put some turndowns on..

Well, the last of the gear oil got added 5 minutes before owner showed up to grab the truck for work so I'm happy. I'm kinda nervous because diff stuff ain't my thing, but when he was backing it out of the shop he said the truck felt much smoother so I'm hoping it'll be fine.

@chiselbit turning a 6x6 into a 4x4.

My brother is gonna use the rear axles and suspension we removed to make his F800 a 6x6.
Showing some flex. The rear suspension on these works very well. Front too actually.

We took the drums brakes etc off my brother’s axles because he is going to convert to discs. Had to blow eleventy billion rivets out to get the backing plates off the axles. Big air chisel FTW.

You can kinda see the suspension here. The center of the spring teeter totters and locates the axles side to side. 3 link dog bones from center to each axle. Achilles heel is the dog bones are vulcanized rubber ends and the rubber eventually dries up and they fall off 😳🤦🏻‍♂️. You can buy all steel spherical bearing ends and press in but it’s a big job and not cheap, 12 of them. I have an idea to make the existing ends into “Johnny joints”.

My youngest brother was finally able to pick up his 4x4 frame, turns out I was off by less than a month on my estimate of the year but it's an important month. 73-77.5 frames were the same width as 67-72, but the wheelbase was 2 inches longer. So, I'm gonna help him relocate the rear spring perches two inches further inboard so the rear tires will be centered in the rear wheel wells. He got a good t-case with the chassis but the trans is probably seized.

Plus, I had him snag something for me while he was there. It needs a full overhaul and a tube straightened, but for the price I think I did all right. This kingpin 60 outta be tough enough to withstand the Cummins. It's currently set up as a dually, my rear axle is off a dually, dually Cummins highboy maybe? Or I'll convert to standard hubs. We'll see.
