Quick question for y'all, the guy who'll be the main fabricator on this suggested a body swap as opposed to a transplant, what do y'all think? Ford body and a frame trim, or heart transplant?

F150 ? Frame and front axle not likely to hold up to the Cummins

Boxed or channel frame? Pretty sure channel…no go for me. I’ve broken frame and body mounts on every 4x4 I’ve had…but I’m extra hard on stuff.

2nd gen’s eat 70 rears…course your truck will be lighter and probably not towing as much.

If you use the divorced ford tcase you could use a deuce trans. Np205?

Engine swap…still legit old school truck. Body swap, less legit, more drivable.

My RAM 3500 4x4 was very heavy on the front. Ate up the track bar and lower ball joints by 32,000 miles. That Cummins is a great engine, but OMG that thing is heavy. Also, with the Cummins won't you have to pull the cab anyway for install?

Negative based on what I've seen. Cab could remain solid based on seeing other folks swaps. Plus, I need to know firewall clearance when I bolt it up.

Yup

The ford will be lighter overall but the engine will be hard on the ford

How much bigger and heavier is a DT466 than a Cummins or Power Stroke? Has anybody ever put one in a pickup?

I think it would be really kewl if you could get a Duramax in jade green with Detroit Diesel valve cover logos. If I ever own one I may do just that.

My brother in law was doing powder coating for a while and he did a bunch of different diesel engine parts in assorted colors for the bro-dozer bunch.
